Newbie here, trying to decide on resort-Las Cabos or Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

Hi, just joined this forum. We are stuck on deciding where to have our wedding. We originally thought Dreams Los Cabos or Riu Palace Los Cabos, but lately alot of bad reviews on trip advisor, which is scaring us. The other option is Punta Cana, either Sunscape the Beach or Ocean Blue/Ocean Sands. We are looking at mid-April 2007 and have about 20 guests. We would like a private reception and don't mind paying the extra $ for it. Any recommendations? Time is ticking away!!

lee,

i got married at dreams and was really worried from the reviews but once i got there, everything was perfect. if you read reviews from any resort, they have these horrible reviews...some people just aren't capable of being happy.

meganb just got married there a couple of weeks ago and said everything was perfect.

one thing to keep in mind about PC, DR is they do not have that many available flights out of canada.

if you choose PC i think the paradiso real is great but even that has gotten some not so great reviews.

Hi Lee,

Welcome to the board! First of all, don't believe everything you read. Some people are impossible to please, and in terms of reviews- good news travels fast but bad news travels 10 times faster! What I mean is, people only tend to post the bad reviews, but think of the thousands of people who stay at these places and have a wonderful time, but haven't posted a review.

I also read those reviews and get totally scared from time to time, but have to remember my site visit and how wonderful the resort was while we were there.

While on our site visit, we stayed at Riu and visited Dreams, both are lovely resorts. If you are looking at April 2007, it may just be a matter of which resort having an opening because a couple months ago I know that availability was extremely limited for both places.

Good luck and let us know how else we can help!
