Azul Beach Hotel - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had their dinner or reception in Chil terrace?? I've been told that there is only one option for placing the tables which is 3 long tables, and I'm curious if there would be room to have a small sweetheart table since we won't have the room to have a head table. And how big are the tables? I heard somewhere that when they do the long tables that they are just the 4x4 table pushed together 3 or 4 long. Does 8 feet across seem a little too wide to anyone else? Or do you think once decor and place settings are on the table that it doesn't look huge?

Did anybody go through the different table linens they had once you were there or do you have to pick ahead of time? I am so skeptical just picking something without seeing it, and I wasn't overwhelmed with many of the Lomas decorating choices so I am nervous about that and just thinking of bringing my own. But if the ones they have there are really nice than I would rather save the packing space! I know there are a few things I mentioned I wanted to my WC that I didn't see on the Lomas site and she was able to get them and send me a pic, so makes me wonder what else they have access to that they don't advertise!

Thanks for advice in advance :)

Ashley

P.S.  My dress came in the other day and I had my first fitting today! I was scared I wouldn't love it when I saw it but I loved it more than the first time trying it!!!! woot.gif And the best part is it needs no alterations except for the bustle :) Things are coming together now!

Hi Kaela! I would like to echo the other girls and say thank you for posting your experiences and your photos! I loved the paper bags with candles on the perimeter of the Terrace which I saw in your pictures. Did you bring those? If so, did you use real candles in glass votives? My mom is thinking of using the battery-powered votives (out of concern that fire+paper can be dangerous) but I dont think they give off enough light.  What did you use?

Thanks again!

Erin

Amanda-I bought two bolts of organza from Amazon.com, and they come wrapped around a cardboard bolt (like you would see in a fabric store). I didn't cut anything, and I don't think they did at the resort either. They just tied/mounted the fabric to the gazebo. I took the cardboard pieces out, and carefully folded the fabric into the suitcase (it won't fit in a "normal" suitcase wrapped around the cardboard). It did travel pretty well (I was a little worried), it doesn't looke "wrinkled" at all in my pictures.

If you're bringing tulle for chair covers, I would probably cut them ahead of time (if you can figure out how much fabric you need somehow). The only reason I say that, is that they might charge you more to have to cut/measure for you. They might not, don't hold me to that, but maybe. Either way, they're so accommodating, I'm sure they'll make it happen for you either way!

Erin-You are so welcome for the pictures and everything else. I'm so happy to help. I had such a great experience, I enjoy helping out other Azul Beach brides! You'll be happy to know that I did NOT bring those candles you refer to. They are part of the restaurant "decor" so I"m sure they'll be there for you too! The only light we brought were small votive candles (4 on each table), and the DJ had a few lights (when necessary) and the staff adjusted the restaurant chandeliers as needed, as well.

Kaela, I purchased a bolt of tulle (40 yards) and I was told the sheers for the gazebo are approximately 13 yards each so I was planning to have 3 sheers hung on the gazebo.  Do you know if this is enough?  Did you have some leftover?  Yes, they gave me the chair bow measurements so I will cut them at home.  Thank you so much for your help!!!!  I still have not decided on decor for the tables and it is stressing me out!  LOL  Did you happen to hit the WalMart in Cancun?  I was told that I could purchase candles and vases there but I'm curious as to the selection they may or may not have.

Amanda, I'm trying to look into placing an online order with Walmart for in-store pickup at a Walmart in Cancun, but so far I haven't had much luck. You can't do it through the US store - Walmart-Mexico is a separate entity.  Walmart-Mexico's site says that you can place an order online for in store pickup, but the site seems to be down while they "make improvements" and I can't get to the shopping. I'm convinced this is the best way to beat the problems with bringing things in with you vs worrying about them having what you want when you need it.  Unfortunately for me, I'm going to have to figure something else out - my wedding is less than 3 weeks away!  Not sure when your wedding is and if you have time to wait and see if they sort it out.  The website is www.walmart.com.mx  If you want more info about what I found out feel free to ask.

Hi Kaela, Amanda or anyone else reading,

Could you send me a copy of whatever letters you sent in advance or gave (or will give) to your guests when they arrived, in a welcome bag or whatever?  And for those already married, is there anything else you wished you added to your letters...  tips about the resort?  gillianr718 @ gmail.com

Thanks!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
