Does anyone know what the judge must read in spanish to make it a legal wedding....? thoughts pls

I know this is kind of random but i would rather my ceremony be in english....we are getting married at the elegance and was curious if any1 had the judge marry you before the actual ceremony? I am hoping the judge can do it even in our hotel room the same day, then a few hours later have our beach ceremony and have my aunt "marry us"....anyone know if this is at all possible or is it totally crazy thinking?

 

Or...have the judge and my aunt kind of give the ceremony..maybe have my aunt start off and him do the vows? What is it exactly that he "must say" in spanish to make it legal....

 

Any help on the above would be so appreciated! Thanks for reading

This is the exact wording the judge will use and this cannot be modified in any way.  It will be said in Spanish by the judge and translated by the WC.  I have seen on here where brides have the judge come to their hotel room or something be for the symbolic ceremony.  if you want it done at the same time: the judge would say everything first.  he would then leave and your aunt can perform her ceremony.  Hope this helps

We are getting married in the Dominican, 2013. I want the ceremony to actually be legal, so we'll have the judge...I was wondering if anyone had the judge or someone say anything either before or after this legal part of the ceremony?

How do people incorporate sand ceremonies and other things?

So can you not say your own vows?? You have to use those vows? And do you have to repeat them in spanish??

My daughter was married on January 7th. She had the legal ceremony performed by the judge, but it ended up being totally separate from the wedding ceremony, which was read by a family friend.

There is one judge for all of Punta Cana, so we were told that he most likely wouldn't be there to do the legal part at the time and date of the actual wedding. Our WC told the bride and groom that he could come before, the day of, or after. Initially he was supposed to come the morning of, but was backed up because of a holiday the weekend before. The wedding ceremony took place as planned on Saturday, and the judge didn't come until Monday morning. He did say those exact words (except in Spanish) and the WC translated for them, and they just said "yes" or "I do" in English in the right spots. We were told that  the marriage license will be dated January 7th, though, not the 9th when he showed up.My daughter and son-in-law wrote the ceremony and added some things which reflected each of their heritages, andalso the Apache Wedding blessing which begins "Now you shall feel no rain, for you are shelter for each other...". It was in English, and beautiful, and so much more meaningful than a standard civil ceremony.

HOLD ON.  There is nothing to panic about lol.

 

Almost EVERY hotel will have your WC translate the ceremony as it is happening.

So the judge says a line in Spanish and then the WC repeats it in English.

 

I would be shocked if a hotel did not let you write your own vows or add anything to the ceremony.  Even with the judge performing the ceremony in Spanish (as that is THEIR national language and therefore the language needed to make your ceremony legal) they will alot time for you to do these things.
