I know that we can pay to have cocktails on the beach after the ceremony while the pictures are being taken, but I don't think for too long because there are other weddings that will be happening after ours. They may be willing to set up an outdoor luncheon, I never asked Chandlyn that question.

Also, if you don't want to get wet or mess up your hair by swimming, you can always have drinks and hang out. The sports bar was nearly always empty during the day, and there is a small casino inside with slot machines. They also have popcorn and sandwiches that you can snag and take upstairs (sports bar is below ground). The seating area for the shows is empty during the day. The kids are on stage practicing their routines some of the day, otherwise it's quiet except for the reggae coming from the speakers. Anyway, there are TONS of tables and chairs you can all sit at as a group, and there are 3 bars close[/img]
Thanks for all of the info!!! Do you know how I can find out about the Catamaran? Is it owned by RIU or is it a separate company that picks up guests at the RIU?

If they are willing to do the luncheon on property somewhere (at a semi private location), it would resolve the issue and you could meet up with everyone later to party at the disco. It would be cheaper to serve h'ors than a full plated dinner.

I'm didn't get married at the Riu either so I'm not sure if they'll let you set a lunch up outside, but I don't see why not. We spent 7 days there in June and I can tell you there is plenty of beach. The area where I saw the weddings done is off to the side and is a great place to set up some tables. There were also times where chefs had stoves and grills set up on the beach and were randomly cooking food and passing it out, so if they tell you the kitchens are busy for lunch maybe suggest they could cook outside? I would ask your WC asap.

Okay I *believe* it is owned by the Riu. It could belong to an outside company, but I recall it taking people out a few times a day. I was told it was free with our stay by another guest, but I don't know how reliable that is cause we never got on it. It took people snorkeling or just sunbathing, and like in the pictures I posted there were times it was just stopped and they were playing music and drinking and dancing. Ask your WC for sure!

We had considered having our reception on the beach. She said that it would be $50/person including drinks. The menu she sent me for this was barbeque. Let me see if I can find it. I am sure that if they do this at lunch time it is the same menu. $50/person was way out of my budget though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
