HI Vane23,

I am having my wedding November 2012 and I signed my contract back in September of 2011 now when I signed the contract it stated in the wedding guideline that you recieve unlimited functions does this mean the time limit is not 3 hrs and depending on your location (outside versus inside) you will not have to pay extra unless you go over the time limit for being inside which is 12pm whereas if you are outside the latest time is 11pm and you do not have to pay at all? Reason being when I talked with Renee she informed me that you get 3 hours of unlimited function time everyday therefore you can do welcome dinner and rehersal dinner you will just have to pay extra on the day of your reception which will amount to over 3 hours....can you help me out b/c I have my conference on Feb. 16 and I want to make sure she does not put us all on different exceptions and I get what I orginally thought....if we could stay in contact it seems as though our weddings are similar....which package did you go with from the old collection?

Thank You

Renita

She also said for my photographer a day pass or minimum of 1 night stay was ok. I'm saving every single email just in case! :)

Hi Vane,

I was wondering if I can mention about how you only have to pay a day pass or have the photographer stay for one night. I specifically asked her about having my own photographer and her response was that i cannot buy a day pass for  him and that he would have to stay a min of 2 nights. I am also frustrated with all the inconsistencies with her answers.

I would only get a reply from her when I contact my TA, HRPC is driving me up the wall.

I posted a few weeks back about how there is an admission charge to the club and that drinks were not free there, that is incorrect. They only charge you admissions if you are not staying at the resort.

Thanks,

Van

Hi Vinarum,

In regards to the club this is the first I have hear this, I was told on FB by the resort you have to pay cover even if you stay at the resort, has this changed since they opened? Does that mean that you have to pay for drinks then? Reason being I am planning to go to the club one night while we are there for the week but my fiance and I were going to take care of the cover charge for everyone and needed to work that into our budget..can you tell me where you can find out about admission for the club? Thank You

Hi Ladies,

I need to clarify two main points:

1. The unlimited private events- I signed my contract back in October 2011 with the Diamond Collection I was under the impression that

you get unlimited time meaning you are not limited to 3 hours. If you go over the 3 hours then you have to pay $60 for every hour after.....can someone clarify if they have heard different from Renee or the WC onsite then I can speak to that, in addition I can use my TA to clarify this when I signed my contract.

2. I paid for the diamond collection however on the breakdown of what you get it states "white avant-garde chairs" no where does it state only 35 when you pay over $2000 for a collection I think it is ridiculous to pay $6.00 for additional chairs over 35 people....

They try to get you on everything here.....if we all try to communicate then we can avoid them trying to get more money out of us....in addition in many of the guides it does not state any of this information.

Hope someone can help.....

Thank You

r n k - i think i read about the club admission on trip advisor, but i asked my TA specifically about this and she reassured me that admissions are only for people who are not staying at the resort. They also have to pay for drinks which are 14 each......ripoff if u ask me. As for the amount of guests that you are able to have without incurring additional costs are 35 with the old collection. i think we signed the contract back either in august or september 2011. There would only be 35 chairs for the ceremony and for any additional chairs it would cost 5. i'd assumed since we would paying 400 for every table the reception would be until midnight. it makes no sense why it would only be for 3hrs. but at this point, i think im going to try to have everything documented in an email.

My Wedding is October 12th, I signed my contract in 2011 and that's why I argued that the private functions should not be limited to 3 hours since I was not aware of that when I signed the contract. I definitely have to make some time to call the hotel directly and speak to the WC on site, I wanted to hire an outside decorating company that my photographer has worked with and I absolutely love their work, but I can't bring any outside vendors. Some of the resorts prices are way to expensive so I might end up bringing in some of the decor.

Hi!

I signed my contract last year sometime and I was not aware that there was a 3hour limit per day on the unlimited private functions. Maybe because I hadn't spoken to a WC until now, I did argue with my new WC about this and they adjusted it for me. So now I am using 6 hours of private function time. If I want to extend my reception after 12 am in the ballroom I then would have to pay $60 for every extra hour per table. I believe if you want to have your reception in the element terrace you can only have it until 11pm and can't extend time at all.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
