Hello everyone, I am newly engaged and beginning my planning!!! We just got engaged a week ago in Cozumel, and have decide to get married in Tulum. I have noticed many of you are bringing a photographer with you. The photographs are a top priority for me as well, has any one found a wonderful local photographer. Furthermore, does anyone have and idea of a reasonable budget. I am trying to decide if I need to hire a wedding planner, or if I cold pull it off myself. I am so excited to have found this site, I have already gathered so much information. This will save me a lot of time. Congrats ladies!!!!

Im with ya there - we are currently looking at Sasha Gluck or Elizabeth Medina as I'm not too taken with the resort photographer and that is my main priority too.

Mariachi bands from our resort (Moon Palace) are £450 USD for 45 minutes!  Sounds like a lot to me???

There are a lot of wonderful photographers on the vendor links here... I'm personally foregoing the extras on the wedding decorations from the resort and bringing my own to spend that money on a photographer to capture the "mood" of the whole day. I'm hoping to spend $1500 or so for the whole package which I would hope includes a TTD... I am having a smaller affair, so I dont think I need countless hours w/ the photog.  I dont think the resort photogs are able to get that same feel  at least from all the pix i have seen b/c they might not have the same type of equipment the outside photogs do... I think if you get married at most of the resorts that are big on weddings, you will get the WC included. How much attention you get prior is proabbly a point of contention for most people, but it seems like it all ends up well in the end.

finding photographer in this forum is easy, you can search or you can to to the wedding vendor link on the top of this page, there are a variety of them and you can choose by investment and style, and your choose will depend on how important the photographer is for you, just have in mind that in 20 years, you won't remember any detail of your wedding if you do not have great pictures :)

Cheers!

Agree with Ivan!

In the process of being listed on the photographers page as well. ;) Had no clue this site existed!! Another place you can look for a photographer is WPJA.com They are an association for wedding photojournalists and can actually search by "destination photographers". They list their starting prices and their websites.

Hope this helps!!

I have Del Sol ==> Booked http://delsolphotography.com/blog/ for my wedding on February, 18th. They are the first vendor I booked, The Day after I booked the hotel.

There work has been seen in magazine around the world and have been voted one of the top ten destination wedding photographers in the world. They are a little pricey, but they take “Quality†to a new level by there unparalleled ability to capture photo journalism.

If you love the Del Sol style, but would prefer a more economical choice. Matt, Owner of Del Sol is started another company under the Del Sol umbrella called La Luna.

Their website is located HERE -> http://www.lalunaphotographers.com/

You should take a look; I believe some of the pictures posted on the website are of Best Destination Wedding Brides.

I'm getting married in Tulum and I'm using Jillian Mitchell for my photographer.  This was the most important thing to me and you really just have to search and search different photographers and see what styles you like and what will also fit within your budget.  Always ask a photographer you are interested in if you can see a full wedding slideshow they have done that includes everything.

There are many resources available on BDW that can help you with all your needs. The Tulum area as well as the Riviera Maya are very wedding friendly and I'm sure you will have no trouble finding great vendors for your event. Don't forget to check out photo slide shows of different weddings in the area to give you great ideas. Good luck with the search!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
