I'm glad you liked the shirt.  That site allows you to personalize different things too, though I can't imagine how much shipping would be to the UK.  You might see if you have something like that there.  I know the moms are going to cry when they see their shirts cheesy.gif.  I told Dania a little of what I wanted- like to have a little welcome party for everyone in our room.  Then she started telling me how much snacks and bottles of champagne were going to cost.  I'm in a butler level room and, as far as I can tell, can have as many bottles of champagne as I want.  Unless I say it's for a party.  Very confusing so I dropped the subject with her.  My dress is strapless silk chiffon sheath with very light panels on it as kind of an overskirt which will blow nicely in the wind.  I hope.  My friend is making it.  She makes beautiful clothes.  She would kill me if I Trashed the Dress- painfully! What is yours like?

Hi Sarah,

Your dress sounds stunning.  Mine is also strapless, quite simple with diamante on the front.  I can send you a pic if you want.  Iâ€m not so good with trying to describe it.  Lol.  Youâ€re so lucky having  a friend who can be so creative.  I struggle trying to sew on a button!!  I can understand why sheâ€d kill you for trashing it.   Are you wearing a veil?  I am but not sure whether to wear it on the top of my head or at the back.  Does that make sense?

I like the sound of a welcome party in the room.  Weâ€ve booked one of the villas which also comes with the butler service but our guests are staying in the hotel on the Mediterranean  Village side.   If you have the butler service I believe you get one bottle of champagne a day.  Maybe you could keep them til your last night & have a leaving / thank you party instead of the welcome party ..,.    cheesy.gif

I'm going to have a look at some UK sites tonight & see if they do anything similar to your tops.  Maybe just get one for me & FI.  They are such a good idea.

Talk to you soon.  cheesy.gif

I think it's going to be very pretty.  I would love to see pictures of your dress.  I'd show you pictures of mine, but it is only a bodice at the moment.  Luckily, my friend works fast.  Thanks for the info on the champagne limit.  It makes much more sense now- I had no idea.  I'm not going to wear a veil.  If there is the least bit of wind, that thing will try to kill you.  I bet you guys have something like CafePress.  I also got Bride and Groom shirts with the dive flag.  You can even personalize underwear msnwink.gif  .

Hey Sarah,

No worries about the champagne info.  We only found out about it as someone we know got married at another Sandals resort.  Dania wasn't forthcoming with the info..!

Fair comment about the veil.   I hadnt thought about that before buying it but having seen a few Antiguan weddings on You Tube, I'm starting to think I may have a fight on my hands.   I had a look at what we can get personalised in the UK & found the below website.  Think I might go for some underwear as a suprise under my dress.   I quite like the bath robes too but think they may take up too much weight in the luggage   http://www.pure-treats.com/index.php

I've attached a pic of my dress.  (not the veil).  Would love to see how your getting on with yours.

Talk soon,

Alex.

That is a gorgeous dress!!!  How exciting!  I think the personalized underwear is really cute.  Mine are pink and say "Mrs. Derousseau" across the back.  They'll be good for a laugh after a stressful day anyway.  How many people do you have going with you?  We have 12 including us so it should be a small but fun group.  Are you planning any group activities besides the wedding?

Hi Sarah,

Ah thanks for saying that.  I was a little worried at first that it may be a bit much for a destination wedding, but I love it so much, I'm not sure that I care.  Haha,

I'm definitely going to go for the underwear.  I love the idea & like you say, it'll be a nice suprise at the end of the day.  msnwink.gif

You have exactly double people.... we have 6 including us.  We may book one of the cruises but not sure at the moment. Will probably wait til we get there & play it be ear.  Are you planning on doing anything?

How long is your flight to Antigua?

Your dress is gorgeous!  Who's to say what is "too much"?  Well, the bride is to say so it must be perfect.  Maybe bring the veil with you and decide when you get there.  I'll scope it out when I'm there and let you know how windy it is.  Are you planning on the beach, garden or gazebo?  I had initially wanted to do the beach, but all the beaches being public makes me nervous.  Anyone could walk into your pictures or turn on a boom box right next to you.  It probably wouldn't happen, but I still seem to worry about it.  We'll go take pictures on the beach afterwards.

So what made you decide on a destination wedding in the first place and what made you choose Antigua?  I think six people is perfect.  Is it you guys and your parents?  I honestly was shocked that we ended up with 5 couples coming with us but everyone decided to come.  We've got both sets of parents, my best friend (and MOH) and her date, our friend who introduced us and her new husband (my wedding is her honeymoon) and my best friend from high school and her husband.  Should be a really good group.  We're going 6 days earlier than everyone else so we can have some time alone to hang out and scuba dive.  The Saturday that everyone else arrives, we plan to let everyone rest and get used to the place and then have a welcome "party" at the pub after dinner.  Then Sunday we'll all have a rehearsal dinner together and then Monday we get married.  I'm trying not to overplan everybody because it's their vacation too.

I think I'm rambling now.  Just excited to talk to another Antigua bride, I guess.  Anyway, it's kind of a pain to get to Antigua from Texas.  We're actually driving 4 hours to Houston so we can do the flight in 1 day.  Everyone else is staying the night in Miami.  If I had given it any thought other than that I just wanted to get the flying over with, I would have wanted to stay the night in Miami also because I've never been there.

Talk to you soon!

Hi Ruth.  We are getting married July 23, 2011 at sandals antigua too :)  What time are you getting married?  We are getting married at 2 PM.  We are so worried about the photography.  Does anyone know if we have to book it in advance.  Can we book it when we arrive and if so, what packages would you recommend??  They are quite expensive and don't want to get too little but don't want to get too much either.  We are getting very excited !!! :)

Hi everyone,

I just returned from Sandals Antigua, we got married on 4/20/11 and it was perfect!  Just wanted to say I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have!!  We originally were getting married on the beach, but just to warn you the beach is public.  When we went out the day before at 4 pm to see what it looked like, I was shocked.  Very loud, topless girls in the ocean, music from the next resort, and people and vendors everywhere!  I immediately went in and changed to a quieter location just inside the fence that separates Sandals from the public beach and it turned out great.  The beach was my biggest disappointment while we were there, but the pool was amazing and the ocean was still pretty to look at from our room, which was amazing.  Let me know if I can answer any questions!  You can add anything to the wedding once you get there, and we ended up buying more pictures than we originally paid for.  Everyone was awesome to work with and the day was stress free and just perfect.

Hey Sarah,

Ah thanks for the comment about the dress.  Good idea about the veil.  I'll look forward to hearing what you think about it & whether you think it's a good call or not.  We're going for a gazebo.  I had the exact same concerns as you about the beach not being private.  Like you, we also plan to take pics on the beach afterwards.

This is my second marraige but FI's first & neither one of us are big on being the centre of attention. The idea of a traditional church wedding & everthing that came with it really wasn't for us.  We went for Antigua because it looks so fantastic & also its not one of the rowdier islands.  From what I've heard its' quite quiet.  Don't get me wrong, we not boring but we didn't want anywhere where you felt you had to out clubbing most nights.  (I hope that makes sense).  How about you, what were your reasons?

It's only us guys, Mike's parents, his sister & husband.  I'm not in contact with my family.  Another good reason for a destination wedding.  How cool that your wedding is your MOH's honeymoon.  I love that.  Also good idea that you have time alone too.  We're looking forward to that part...!!!  Your plans sound ideal.  We haven't arranged a rehearsal dinner but it's something I think might be a good idea.  Are you have a ceremony rehearsal?

Your journey to Antigua sounds like a nightmare but I'm sure it'll be worth it once you get there.  I'm dreading the flight.  (Terrified) but plan on getting lots of drugs from the doctor beforehand.  haha

I love the idea of talking to other Antiguan brides so you ramble away.  Hope you have a good weekend.

Talk to you soon.

Alex.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
