Sandals Antigua Brides??

Recommended Posts

Hello Antigua Brides!  I'm getting married July 23, 2011 and doing the BB wedding. Quick question, I would like to have some sort of tropical bouquet, but when I ask my WC I'm told my bouquet MUST be one of the options from the MS catalouge and can't be custom made.  Has anyone else run into this issue?

Hello Antigua Brides!  I just came accross this website!  I am getting married in a few weeks!  February 28, 2011 at 3:30 Sandals Grande Antigua.  We are staying in the Grande Luxe St Tropez Oceanview Suite & have decided on the beautiful beginnings ceremony since it will be just the two of us - I did upgrade my flowers & we are doing the sand ceremony & private candle light dinner after.  I have had Ebony as a WC & she has been wonderful to work with!  I booked the 2 hour photo session package & am wondering if anyone has any feed back on how the pictures turn out?  Also wondering if I should have done the upgrade to butler service?  I'll post lots of feedback & tips when I return - so excited!!!!

Hi Lorimdw,

Congrats on your wedding in just a few weeks!!  We are getting married on April 20, 2011 at 4 pm and it's just the 2 of us also.  We started out with a Monte Carlo suite, but later decided to upgrade to get butler service in the Penthouse suite.  We are also doing the sand ceremony and trying to decide about the candlelight dinner.

Ebony has also been my wedding coordinator and has been great, although I haven't had to do too much planning since we don't have any guests.

I would love to hear how things go for you once you get back!!!

Hi All,

Glad to have come across this forum.  So much good info.  We're getting married on 4th August.  I'm hoping that all you lucky brides will post your reviews & any tips as I'm the last in line.

We have 4 guests in total & have opted for the Beautiful Beginnings package but have also added the 2 hour reception.   Has anyone got any feedback / info on photography.  I'd heard that you cant ask external photographers on site & you must use Sandals photographer.   Has anyone opted to use the hair & make up option?  I'm a little worried that there wont be time for a practice run beforehand.  (We get there 3 days beforehand)

Dania is our Planner & we have had an hour long telephone conversation with her.  I didn't find her particularly helpful to be honest & we waited for over an hour to receive a call from her only to find that she was off sick but no one had notified us.  Thankfully our TA have been great & as we have such a small wedding party there's very little to arrange.

We're flying from the UK & I'm a little worried about transporting our wedding clothes.  I've heard about some kind of box you can pack your dress in & take on board as hand luggage.  Has anyone heard of or used these?

I'm looking forward to hearing all your news on your forthcoming weddings.   Congratulations to you all

Hi ladies

We are getting married at Sandals Antigua in April too, we will be there from 2nd until 16th.  I was so relieved when I read some of the posts here, it is just the two of us and I was starting to think that we were the only ones having such an intimate wedding!  We are sticking with the BB package too given that its just the two of us, and we are also having the sand ceremony and the candlelight dinner.

What arrangements do you have for your hair/make up/dressing on the big day?

Hi Vickytoria

Congratulations!!

I'm thinking of having my hair / make up done at Sandals but haven't booked anything yet.  I've sent my WC, Dania, an email today asking if you get a trial run & if so, when this will be.  We fly out on the 1st & get married on 4th so I'd like to be sure that everything will be done in time.   You can for someone to come to your villa / room to do your hair / make up, but there's an additional cost.  I believe you can aslo ask for someone to come & help you get dressed.

Where abouts do you live, are you in the UK?

Not sure if any of this is of any use to you.

Hi Marleydog

Yes, I'm in the Cardiff.  I've just finalised everything with Dania - I've gone for the hair/makeup/manicure/pedicure package and the dressing attendant too.  You can have the hair and makeup done in your room for $50 extra!  The package includes a trial, which I'll be having the day before, but you can choose when this will be.

I also have a box to transport my dress - it hasnt arrived yet but I'll let you know what it's like when it does!

Hi Vickytoria,

Glad to hear you've finalised things with Dania.  You must be getting so excited!  What do you have left to do, if anything?

I've been having a bit of a nightmare over my dress.  I bought a lovey Alfred Angelo, duches satin, fitted with a little puddle train.  Ideal for a beach wedding but then I started questioning whether it was 'weddingy' enough.  Cut a long story short, I decided to try on some other styles just to see.  I've now found a stunning dress which makes me feel every inch a bride but...... It's 10 times the price of the Alfred Angelo I bought (it was on sale).  Everyone loves the first dress but they know I got it in the sale & I'm sure they are taking that into consideration when giving their opinion.   I've asked FMIL to come & have a look on Monday & let me know which one she thinks is the best.  She doesnt know the price of either.  I just want to have the 'wow factor'.  Really in two minds what to do.

I'm also going to go for the hair & make up package.  I've only heard good things which helped me make my mind up.  Have you got any idea as to what hairstyle you're going to go for?

Will look forward to hearing what the box is like.  They definitely seem to be the best option for getting your dress there safely.

Take care.

Alex

Hi Alex

I have the opposite problem - I'm worried my dress is too 'weddingy' for a destination wedding!!  To be honest I bought it with my wedding reception party in mind rather than the wedding itself.  Its not huge but its not a slim and slinky dress some of the lovely brides have in the destination photos.  People are telling me I am just finding something to panic about!  I am going for my final fitting on Friday so hopefully I'll calm down after that.

I have quite a bit still to do - Sandals asked us to choose some songs which we havent done yet (it wasnt something we particularly wanted to do) and I need to decide on hair - it'll definitely be up though.  Im also having a drama over high shoes or kitten heels although I guess its a pretty small thing!!

I have become pretty irrational about everything so if I were you I'd value the opinions of those people around you.  But you only do it once so you have to have the dress you want!  I think the FMIL is a good plan - let me know what you decide.  Whatever it is I dont think you'll be worrying about it on the day!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
