I know Cinco de Mayo is not a Mexican holiday, but does anyone know if the hotels usually have a lot of festivites?

I just realized that this is my wedding date, did anyone else get married on Cinco de Mayo?

I am just worried about the hotel having a lot of loud activites and while I love to party, I do want my wedding day to be a great "private" party.

I emailed my hotel to ask them but I thought I would get BDW opinions on havig a wedding on this day.

thanks!!

Hi L&C In Love -

I'm also getting married on Cinco de Mayo but in 2012.  When we went to do our site visit, I asked the coordinator if it was going to be a big deal to have our wedding date on Cinco de Mayo because it's a Mexcian holiday and she said no.  That we would be able to have our wedding on that day and there would be no problem.  I don't know which hotel you are thinking about getting married at or are getting married at but the coordinator told me that although it's a Mexican holiday it is not recognized in Cancun.  That Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in Puebla, Mexico.  That led me to believe that it's just any regular day everywhere else.  Now, if you were getting married on Mexico's Independence Day, I think that would be a different story.

I hope this helps.

Haha, ya I asked my photographer and he didn't think it would be a biggie! BUT all of that worrying for nothing. My tour company actually didn't end up having enough seats available for the week we wanted to go so we had to push it back a week. So I guess it all worked out, I was quite worried there for a bit trying to reconfirm the wedding date with the hotel and the day with the photographer.

But thanks so much for the insight!!

My wedding is on May 7th, so we were planning on doing our bachelor/bachelorette parties on Cinco de Mayo. I got really excited thinking it would be one big party, then my TA told me they don't even celebrate it there. sad.gif oh well it'll still be fun I'm sure!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
