Hi All!
Planning an all-inclusive destination wedding for Oct 14, 2011 in Mexico... I know it's hurricane season during that time, so I'm looking to have it at a location on the Pacific side rather than the Gulf. So far Cabo is the leading runner for the destination wedding.
I've looked at a couple pkgs and they seem to have a lot of "fluff" stuff that I don't need (i.e. gift flute glasses for the bride and groom, turndown, etc) so I'm planning to piecemeal everything together that I want.
Starting out... anyone know of any good wedding books or binders I should consider getting from the bookstore?
Also, any know of pro's and con's to hiring a travel coordinator, and hiring a wedding coordinator for the day-of?
Thanks!
Michelle

Welcome and congratulations, Michelle! I'm sure you will have a great wedding in Cabo if that is where you do decide! I have a binder that I created myself, and then I have another binder (and some books) that some friends have bought me. I be completely honest, for me... they do not completely help, and that's why I have created my own. When we was planning an at home wedding before changing our minds to DW, I did use one of the binders my MOH bought me because there were so many more details that I needed to have information on, which I do not need to worry about for the DW.
I'm not sure exactly what the name of the binder is, as it is at home, and I'm at work... but I have seen this particular binder at both Barnes & Noble and Border, along with at Michael's. If you can, certainly check it out before you purchase it and make sure it's going to be helpful and not a waste of money!
You will find a lot of great ideas and some really great information here on this forum! Happy planning!!

Hi Michelle, First off congrats on your upcoming wedding. :-)
I was married in Cabo about three years ago, It's beautiful there. My thoughts on a WC is this. For me, we choose to do a legal wedding in Mexico and that proved VERY hard to get all the required paperwork and such on our own, so we decided to hire a WC for our very small wedding (10 guest) But more then that, she was helpful in securing the remaining vendors and making sure everything was taken care of, so it was worth the extra money.
In regard to a TA, well I say why not? We have some amazing travel agents on the forum that can work with your resort in possibly getting a group discount, and of course assist you incase something goes wrong. I have "Tammy host" do all my travel arrangements and I couldn't be happier, I recently returned from St. Thomas and the airlines lost my bag with some important photography equipment in it. I called Tammy and she started working with me and the airlines, so that I didn't spend all day on the phone when I needed to be at a wedding. So finial though, she was awesome. :-)
Best of luck and happy planning

Thanks, ladies!
And thanks for the recommendation, Tammy B! We'll be inviting ~200ppl to the wedding and I think we'll get about 60-70 to show? (Hope it's not too much more.) With all of the requirements the resorts want for a legal ceremony, we decided to skip the headache and just do a religious one.
I'm absolutely LOVING this forum and so glad I found it!! Although I'm sure my boss isn't too happy about it, lol. ; )
