PLEASE HELP! STD/ booking questions...

Recommended Posts

Ok... so my wedding date is RESERVED for May 21, 2011 at Riu NEgril in Jamaica. I have 90 days to confirm the date. My problem is i dont know whether or not to send STD's until after i get rate from the TA. I am having atough time getting answers about the airfare/hotel rates for this trip because airfare is not yet available. im not sure if i can reserve rooms at the resort or not either. should I order my STD's if the TA says there shouldnt be a problem getting booked for the week of my wedding, or should i wait until everything is confirmed? i want to give my guestswhat.gif enough time to plan and save for the trip. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help and let me know what you have all done! Thank you all so much!what.gif

I sent my STDs out as soon as i got my date confirmed at my hotel with a note "details to follow". This way everyone knows a) you're getting married and when and B) it's a destination wedding and they should start saving.

Once you get the pricing for the hotel, you can send out another communication with that info (I did that by email). My prices went down about 3 months later, so I sent another note out with the good news. Then, when you send invites out (if you choose to) you can send all of the definite info out in that.

Hope that helps and congrats on booking your date!

If I were you I would wait. I ordered STDs and then we moved the wedding up three months. I ordered new STds and we postponed it a year. then we decided on May 2011 and because of another conflicting wedding in the family we moved it to April 2011. I'm so glad I didn't order the May STD's! I would wait for sure till you have the date confirmed!

When you say your wedding date is "reserved" does that mean you have paid the deposit and it is confirmed? If you know that you are sending your invites & STDs to a large group of people I would wait for a confirmation. This will avoid any confusion of you having to send out another notice with a changed date or getting in touch with people to let them know of the change. If you are only sending it out to a smaller group of people it may be easy to change dates but to avoid confusion I would just say wait until you are confirmed. Once your date is confirmed you can put "Formal Invitation to Follow" and can always send bulletin e-mails updating them on room rates and flight info. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
