I was looking at the wedding packages at the Marriott in St Thomas, and it doesn't look like they actually include the photos...just the photos on a DVD...did you have to print your own wedding photos? Btw, your photos turned out GREAT!!!

Yes they give you a CD which you own the rights to.....which I think is nice because then you can go and make as many copies/books/prints as you'd like with no problem and for much cheaper than if you had a photography company do it. I ordered prints from smugmug.com, and our album from mypublisher.com. I think it actually came out better than if I had someone else do it because I got to choose the photos I liked best and that I wanted to include rather than having someone else choose. It's a personal preference I guess but it worked great for me.

I just had to say thank you SO much for posting your pictures & reviews of the Marriott Frenchman's Reef & Havana Blue!!!  I am actually booked for the same exact locations (ceremony at Marriott gazebo, dinner at Havana, and private after party at SandBar), similar party style, same 5 PM time, same makeup/hair person... and chose everything online (I haven't been there in person yet).  As my wedding is getting closer, I've been having those "what if this goes wrong.." worries.  I stumbled across your blog... your reviews & photos have helped me so much.  You looked absolutely gorgeous and it looks like everything went perfectly.  Thank you again!!!

@@SJHitch Hi! Were you able to do a bonfire on the beach for your beach party? Also, did you communicate with Havana Blue planner to arrange the beach party after your dinner or did you deal with marriott planners? Was your beach party at "SandBar"? It all looks awesome and I cant wait to get down there!

Did you guys take up the entire havana blue restaurant? Or did you just get a small area? We have 35 guests so far and I want to make sure we all get sat together if I cant rent out the entire space but was told by the marriott planner that i cant make a reservation for that many people. Do you recommend dealing directly with havana blue planners?

Also does anyone know if they would allow us to put up our wish lanterns from the beach at either the marriott or at the sandbar in front of havana blue?

I'd love to know about your budget and if it was exceeded once the wedding was all said and done.  I'm planning my marriege in May 2015 at the Marriott in St. Thomas and I'd like to ensure the quotes received appropriate.

I attended a wedding here in Dec 2014. The wedding was beautiful and the food at Havana Blue was great(especially the salad with the fried cheese croutons and pineapple dressing)! The things that were "wedding" related went smoothly. There was no problem sitting ~30 people together at Havana Blue. They lined up a long row of tables along the side and even created little menus with a picture of the couple. The things that were not related to the wedding did not go well! Everyone had issues with the Marriot hotel. It took a long time to check-in and when we opened the door to our room we found that someone was already checked into the room. We were lucky that they weren't there when we walked in! Another hour or so later they were able to find us an unoccupied room. A different guest at the wedding checked into a dirty room -there was even mold all over the shower curtain. They weren't able to find her another room that night so she ended up staying in a room with another guest. Another guest ordered a glass of milk through room service for their child and it took over 3 hours for it to be delivered. The service at the restaurants was absolutely terrible. Expect it to take atleast 2 1/2 hours on average to eat any meal. We went back to Havana Blue the day after the wedding and it took over 2 hours for me to get a salad. When I got the salad it wasn't even what I ordered. We were in a hurry to get to an excursion so I didn't even get a replacement and still had to pay over $20 for the salad. Overall the wedding was nice but I will never stay at that resort again. It was a very disappointing experience with Marriot!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
