The Royal, Secrets Moroma or Le Blanc????

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post! My fiancé and I have been engaged since Dec 10 and have decided to have a destination wedding! I started out planning for one of the Sandals resorts in St Lucia, but we have decided that Mexico will be more affordable for our guests. I am experiencing the same frustration as others in my search because the 2011 rates are not out yet. Can anyone please give me some info or experiences that you have in dealing with the 3 resorts that I have selected....

The Royal - Which resort is nicer Cancun or Playa De Carmen?

Le Blanc

Secrets Maroma Beach

I just found this site and it has already been so helpful! I look forward to learning more!

I am also looking at The Royal cancun for our June 2011 wedding. I cannot offer any help for the other two resorts. I have stayed at The Royal Cancun twice and have loved both stays. We also got engaged at this resort. Sorry I can't offer any more info. There seems to be limited info on The Royal in Cancun and it has me a little worried.

Hi Brides to be. congrats! I too just got engaged, new years and am doing a destination wedding. This website has been so helpful so far.

I have had 3 areas we are focusing on and waiting on rates.

I just want to get it decided on. :) So many options.

WE are interested in Sandals-La Toc, D.R.-Iberostar and Paradisus, and in Mexico-Secrets Maroma,Iberostar, and El Dorado.

All have different things I love.

Now sorry for rambling, I think we too are going to illiminate St. Lucia even though its my number 1. We anticipate 60 plus guests and all from all over.

So now we are focusing back on D.R. and Mexico.

I wanted to let you both know we got engaged at the Royal and I loved it.

I have done many all inclusives before and this by far the best SERVICE and food.

Im huge on service and I was very impressed. The food was fantastic as well. All the restaurants had great service and were like 5 course meals. I did not see a wedding there but the resort itself was amazing. They did a really good job to cater to us. I was impressed. So now im reasearching these other 2 in mexico and wondering the same thing. FEedback from brides. LEt me know if you know any more on secrets or iberostar.

Have a great evening! Christy

hey christy thanks and congrats to you also! i think we have narrowed it down to secrets miroma beach. celcia the wedding coordinator was very quick getting back to me. l have never been to cancun and the only thing that bothers me about the royal and le blanc is i believe they are in downtown cancun on a strip of hotels. are the resorts really close to each other? i found it really helpful doing a you tube search on the resorts for a "real" perspective on how they really look. anyways goodluck!

Hi and congrats - We stayed at the Royal PDC last April and it is a phenomenal resort. I honestly can't say enough about the food, staff, rooms and how immaculate they keep the resort. It is literally 2 seconds from 5th ave. which is where all the shops and clubs are and is strongly backed on tripadvisor.com. le blanc was one of the resorts that we were looking at too but needed someplace that was child-friendly so unfortunately it wasn't a go for us. the wedding packages look stunning and it is ranked #1 for cancun resorts on tripadvisor. Not sure about the other one but I'm sure with such strong contenders- you really can't go wrong. Happy planning :-)

Hey girls! melly, The Royal and Le Blanc are both located in the "hotel zone" which basically means they are on a long strip of hotels. Some hotels are closer to each other because they might be smaller resorts or bigger resorts, etc. I have been to cancun 5 times and have never felt "crowded" at the resorts I choose. IMO the beach in cancun cannot be beat. It is absolutely stunning! Playa is also a great and charming little city but for our wedding we are looking for more excitement for our guests! I think we have chosen The Royal cancun. We are going to confirm our choice on a site visit this summer. Good luck with all your planning!!

I'm also waiting for rates for, May 2011. Also looking at Royal PDC and Secrets Maroma or Capri Riv. Cancun.

Anyhow, i've been to both The Royal in Playa and Cancun. The Royal Cancun has a new beach now, haven't seen it in person yet but judging from website photos it looks A LOT better than it was when I went.

I can't say enough good things about the service at both properties! I personally preferred Playa as it is not in the Cancun "Hotel Zone" where there are hotels all in a row...Hard Rock Cafe, La Isla Mall (complete with Zara, Starbucks and Nike), Bubba Gump are also in the area.

Fifth Ave is steps away from RPDV and so much fun! Clubs, bars, shops and $35 massages =)

PS: If you decide on the Royal, have yourself a Mango Tango!

Molly,

Im reading the reviews I have to state that I have been to both cancun and Playa Del carmen. I have not been to the Royal in cancun BUT the Royal in Playa like stated above is literally a 2 min. walk for your guests to a town of sooooo much to offer.

If you want variety for your guests and yourself to leave the resort and explore, you couldnt be in a better WALKING area. Its not as congested as cancun, a bit nicer, classier, and I really recommend it. I have pictures if you want to see, email me.

It really is fabulous. One of my best friends got married a year ago about 30 min. drive and we cabbed it into playa bc of all the action and fun.

Really good shopping, exploring, close to cozemel if your guests want to go to the island, and or coure great bars and nightlife. Checkout the Blue Parrot, amazing! If I had my pick of areas 100% would say Playa Del Carmen over Cancun but that is me. Good luck and let me know if I can help. This resort was really fantastic and in a prime location... :)

I second that. The fire dancers at the Blue Parrot are wicked!! We got there early and literally were feet from the performance. We also hit up Coco Bongo's on the same night out and Liverpool Dpt Store for shopping. All terrific!

ahhh! having a realyl hard time with this whole process because the 2011 rates are not available! They have given me an estimate but say it can go up or down! The price is quite expensive for me to ask of some of our guests! We were planning on going the last week of Jan.

Does anyone know what time of year is less $$$ but not during the summer? I was thinking November but I really don't want to wait that long!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
