Barcelo Marina Palace

Hey ladies! I haven't really been a regular poster on here but alot of information on here has helped me so I thought it would be nice to be able to help others too!

I just got married at the Barcelo Marina Palace two weeks ago and if anyone has any questions about it or would like to see pictures of the resort feel free to PM me!

To keep it short on here I'll just say the resort was beautiful and the staff was incredible-we were treated like rock stars! They upgraded us to the most beautiful (not to mention huge!) suite for the entire stay, decorated the wedding gazebo beautifully, gave us a private room for the wedding dinner with an amazing meal, and were unbelieveably friendly our entire stay! Our entire group was happy with this resort!

If your only reason for not considering the Marina Palace is because you've heard the bug are worse there-don't believe it! In my group of 15 people-2 of us ended up with a ton of bites (I was one of them unfortunatley) 8 people had one or two bites, and 5 people had none! We did a few excursions and when we stopped to pick people up at other resorts such as the Iberostar resorts, Melia, Trip Pennisula etc, we saw the exact same thing...some people with none and some people covered in bites!

My honest opinion is that it is while you get what you pay for- the 5 star resorts such as the Ibererostars, Melia and Trip are probably the nicest-the Barcelo is the best of the moderatly priced resorts and because they have less weddings the service is incredible! I wouldn't change a thing about my wedding!

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

I am thrilled to hear you had a great experience. I would totally agree with everything you've said. I too was subject to terrible bug bites, but I experienced the same thing at all of the other resorts we've been to in Varadero. Some people have reactions.... bottom line.

I too loved that they only had one wedding per day and made us feel like royalty!

Glad to hear you had a great experience!!!

Congratulations!!

Just got back from photographing a wedding at the Barcello marina Palace and it was awesome!!! Lots of great staff and yes although there was many mosquitos around the main resort..... there was none on the Private island.

GO FOR THE UPGRADE!!! it is really worth it.

the restaurant on the Island is the best food on the resort.

photos can be viewed on my blog www.babineauphotography.ca/blog

PM me for more info or email

I just wanted to add a few words as well. We were married at Barcelo Marina Palace on April 15 and had an amazing time. We were also upgraded to the "island" for most of our 2 week stay - i would recommend that to everyone :) The staff were great, but most of all, the wedding team were absolutely amazing...my day was perfect!! We had 40 guests, and about 2 or 3 had bad mosquito bites on their legs. After hanging around the lobby bar for 1 night we quickly learned our lesson and most of us were able to escape with a handful of bites each! The fact that the resort only books one wedding per day was a selling factor. Everyone in attendance had a wonderful time and agreed that it was amazing and went off without a hitch! We had a 2.5 yr old and an 11 mth old, with ages ranging from 20's, 30's 40's and 50's...everyone had a great time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
