June 2010 Brides!

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies!

I too am in the same boat. Working on welcome bags and purchasing everything for the wedding. WHEW!!! how is everyone getting all of their stuff down there? I have candles, welcome bags, dried rose pedals, aisle runner,.....and I am not sure how I am going to get it to Mexico. I was thinking that I have each person that is going take one item lol. By the way you all have really motivated me to work out. THANK YOU!!!

Totally stalled here because airline prices have jumped in the last few weeks and we are paying for ~ 1/2 of our guests. This has completely demotivated me. Add that to lack of computer access at home plus severe decrease in RSVP response that officially ends Mar. 30 = total slacker bride. Need motivation from my fellow June `10 brides!!!!

Hey girl!! dont get down yet...I was totally in your boat a few weeks ago, our tickets went up randomly one day and stayed up for a month and a half, then went back down. Keep stalking the website your looking at...If you buy through Orbitz they have a guaranteed price deal where if someone purchases that same ticket for a cheaper price they will refund you the amount extra you paid...I don't know if thats still the case, but look into it. As for computer access, I depend on my awsome family who does. Do you have a MOH or bridesmaid that can help... Your getting married soon CONGRATS!!! grouphug.gif

Thanks for the encouragement Naye!! We've been stalking the airline prices, and nothing yet, but I'm hopeful that as the weather warms up here on the East Coast, the prices will go down. I'm assuming that with all the cold weather, the airlines have been taking advantage of folks making summer vacation plans. And, I'm back online at home - have a new housemate that I was "sharing" a laptop with, but FI got me a new one wink.gif

Kate - congrats on the first fitting! hope it went well!!

Hello all! I haven't checked in for awhile. I've been stressed to the max regarding our TA.

Prices dropped 200/person from our group rate -- I went to TA about it and she was not helpul at all (or even understanding), even though she knows we have some guests, including my sister who is a single mom and the price difference would make a HUGE difference to her. ALSO -- we unfortauntely found out my grandmother has breast cancer. The made their deposit about two weeks ago, right before they found out and my TA said "that's too bad, unfortunately the deposit is non-refundable". Needless to say, I spent a few nights crying and wished we had a different TA.

On a happier note, I found an excellent seamstress to take in my dress and it should be ready in a month! I am soo excited, it was very big on me!

We have our photographer booked, resort/ceremony confirmed -- 16 guests so far (we didn't invite many), and I'm working on wedding week attire. I bought some cute white bathing suit bottoms and put rhinestone words on the bottom, and a black tank top that I ironed "Bride" onto.

3 months!!!! Plus, the gym is going excellent I'm sitting at my goal weight already -- so now it's just maintaining it!! :)

Decreased RSVP response might mean less $$ out of your pocket and maybe a more intimate guest list? Don't let it get you down. No matter who is with you it will be a memorable trip/experience!! You are so generous to pay for half of your guests - wow! I'm sure they are super appreciative. We are paying for my sister in addition to ourselves and my daughter and that already feels like alot...so I know how tight the money can be. Start focusing on the fun of going away to get married, try to relax and enjoy the anticipation.... 3 months!!!

I'm getting really excited... it's crunch-time... I have done a lot but have sooo much to do yet... crossed off my list are invites (sent and RSVP's all in! 31 booked!), OOT bags are almost done, BD shoot in one month as well as first dress fitting! Today I'm gong to buy FI's ring :) I have a furlough this week so I'm hoping to get a lot done - shoes, jewelry, sand ceremony kit, etc etc... AAAAHHHH!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
