Hey! Getting married April 14, 2012 on the North Beach in Isla. I am so excited. We have been twice and our leaving in less than 2 weeks to meet with the coordinator and show our parents the island. I'm looking forward to being there in a cooler month. I have always been in the middle of the summer before. I've heard awesome things about Zama. Keep me posted

Hi, and congrats!! Getting married in Isla Mujeres was absolutely incredible, and looking back we are SO glad we made the decision to do so. Villa Rolandi was amazing - they were so wonderful to work with, extremely accommodating, and really took care of every single detail and made the experience wonderful for us and our guests.

Best wishes!

Hi, we're getting married on Isla Mujeres in late March 2012. We have Zama booked for the venue and Privilege Aluxes for the hotel where everyone will stay. Any helpful tips for the island would be great - we've never been! Just sounded do cool we decided to just go with it. Privileges is trying to sell us on having the wedding there, but I really like the look of Zama - can anyone who's had their wedding at Zama let me know what they thought of it? I want to be able to bring some of my own decorations, does Zama let you? Also, any good suggestions for a dinner the night before the wedding with all our guests? Probably be about 70-80 ppl. Thanks and congrats to all the Isla Mujeres brides!

Welcome! Congrats on your wedding! While I haven't had my wedding yet (At Zama 11/26/11) I can offer you some information. Privilege is nice but you definitely want to have your wedding at Zama, it has a private beach--you can't beat that! Privilege is on the beach but its on a public beach and can be busy. Also, Zama does let you bring some of your own decorations. They also just switched management and are soooo much easier to work with now. I hadn't been to Isla before either until I went in February, Its AMAZING! You will love it! Zama is so beautiful and it looks out to the lights of Cancun, you'll love it. Let me know if there are any other questions I can help you with.

We are getting married there in March 2012 too! I am a little worried about doing it during spring break, but everyone has assured me that it will be fine on the island. What colors are you using? We are taking our own decorations to Zama like napkins, table runners and a few other things, too.

I agree that the new management at Zama is much easier to work with.

Oh great! Thanks so much. Also, does anyone know if that fee to have the event at Zama is negotiable at all? Or is that pretty standard? Does anyone have any info on organizing taxis (or golf carts) to shuttle ppl back and forth from Playa Norte to Zama? Are you all dealing with Jonas Rodriguez at Gourmet Events - he hasn't given me much info yet... but glad to hear Zama's new management is easier to deal with! Thanks again!!

We've been there 3 times but sadly have never been to Zama. We always get swept up in downtown and of course Mango Cafe and Soggy Pesos. But I have heard wonderful things about Zama's weddings! We are having ours at Buhos/Hotel Cabanas Maria del Mar on Playa Norte. We met with Maria at Weddings Isla Mujeres and she was amazing!! So easy to work with. She also does weddings at Hotel Secreto and Playa la Media Luna. Just some extra info for other events on the island. Olivias is a WONDERFUL Mediterranean restaurant downtown. We are having our rehearsal dinner there and the atmosphere is so nice. Also if you have been to the island and not eaten at Mango Cafe, you MUST. It is located on the Caribbean main road, and it has some of the best food I have ever eaten. Especially breakfast/brunch. They will be opening a rooftop terrace in November according to the owner, Lori. It will be able to accommodate much more people then what the main restaurant can now. We are thinking of having our welcome dinner there because it is so amazing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
