Fisrt and foremost in 1978 I was born. That is the most important! But here are a few other "trivial" things that happened in '78

 

 

John Wayne Gacy is arrested for the killings of 33 boys and young men.

 

Jonestown mass suicide: In Jonestown, Guyana, Jim Jones leads his People's Temple in a mass murder-suicide; 913 die, including 276 children.

 

 

Odie makes his first appearance in the cartoon strip Garfield

 

The first so-called test-tube baby, Louise Brown, is born.

 

The Blues Brothers make their first appearance on Saturday Night Live.

 

Director Roman Polanski skips bail and flees to France after pleading guilty to charges of engaging in sex with a 13-year-old girl. (and this is rearing it's ugly head again )

 

Sweden becomes the first nation to ban aerosol sprays that are thought to damage earth's protective ozone layer.
