Gran Bahia Principe vs. Grand Palladium

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies! Need your help!

I'm looking for pros and cons of these two resorts. I have been to the Bahia and really enjoyed it, but heard that the Grand Palladium is also amazing. Have any of you been to both and can tell me which one you liked more and why?

FI likes the really fancy resorts, big ones..with statues and what not. I don't really care! The only thing I didn't like about the Bahia was the beach. It just wasn't that powdery sand.. Thanks for your help!!

I was in the same situation 7 months ago when we were trying to choose between the two resorts. We ended up going with the GBP because of a few things...but the bottom line was the pricing and the familiarity with the resort.

Initially, I thought it would be so much better to try something "new" because we had already been to the GBP...but now that has come down to the final weeks...I am so pleased that we stuck with a place that we already knew because I have the "visual" to what I'm expecting. I think I would have so many questions and doubts if we had gone with GP because you never really know what to expect until you've been there.

I know that each one is beautiful and has it's pros and cons. The GP has a cool "informal" website for Palladium Addicts. The GBP has tons of information on this BDW site. As far as the beaches...I think it's fairly common anywhere in that area because of the reef.

I am totally pleased with our Gran Bahia Principe (Coba) decision and there's no looking back...

Thanks, Emme! The Bahia is a fabulous resort, which property are you staying at?

FI is just worried that the GP will not be fancy and he will hate it! (he isn't that picky, but just loves the big fancy resorts. Ex. We were at the Riu Tequilla in February, and he did not like it at all, and doesn't want that to happen again) What to do..what to do...

We are in the Coba section because everyone in our group will get a junior suite. We're not too worried about it being a bit of a walk to the beach. Lots of us have kids and will probably spend more time at the pool.

One thing that I did feel was a bit of a sacrifice was the gazebo at the GP. I loved it!! Amazing...but really anywhere we are will be amazing :)

I have heard many great things about Bahia Principe, but I was kind of in the same boat when choosing our resort but opposite, where we have been to GP before. I have been to Mexico several times, and the GP was definitely the best place we stayed. gorgeous grounds (huge- as most of them are), very clean, great service, and the food was good as well.

I really don't think you can go wrong with either one. both are awesome resorts, and both do weddings all the time.

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
