Ugh... Sunquest - added layover to our flight

Recommended Posts

Just a word of warning to those girls flying Sunquest to Cabo this year.(Im through Toronto) They originally just had Monday flight,(they did have Thurs last year) which I was disappointed about, it was the only day, so we went with it.

Today, I found out they decided to add a Thurs, which I can deal with. Then I see that the Monday says "via Mazaltan". (Thurs doesn't) I called the trval agent and sure enough, we have to stop and drop off those passengers and their luggage. The flight is already 6hrs and now its going to be at least 7...ugh.

I know its not a HUGE deal, just not looking forward to breaking the news to my 57 guests who have booked and were told it was a direct flight, Im going to have to hear it from at least a few, I read the fine print and nothing I can do - just says return flight. From what I know of Sunquest, from what Ive read on here - Im pretty sure they dont care...........

Anyway, just a heads to other Sunquest Cabo brides, make sure to find out if your flight has this "touchdown" (this is what they call it), on your way to Cabo, there may be a 2nd flight that doesnt - Id get that one...

You'll find out through searching this forum that a LOT of people have issues with Sunquest. Your situation could be worse, even though it does still suck. Sunquest cancelled my trips altogether, and expected me to delay our wedding 2 weeks after we'd already planned everything. So we had to re-book flights and hotel separately on our own, and now we have a layover too. Our travel is going to take around 12 hours and we have to connect in Mexico City and go through customs so it's not even close to ideal. We had a couple of guests cancel because of this, but there's nothing we can do. It's their loss! Just update your website with the new info and hopefully your guests won't give you any crap as it's really out of your hands. Sunquest is one of the worst tour operators in my opinion but unfortunately they are sometimes the only operator for Cabo depending on your hotel sad.gif

Omg, that's awful - and there's nothing you can do about that? I'm going to speak to my travel agent and see if we can come up with a contigency plan just in case. Unfortunately with the Riu Palace, they ARE the only tour operator for us.

Thanks so much for the heads up on this.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sunquest SUCKS!! After THREE flight/departure day changes, we were then cancelled for our May 28 wedding. We had to rebook everything for August 20th, and we found much cheaper flights through Westjet.

So we have separate hotel and flight bookings too. Our guests are not happy with Sunquest either.

Good Luck with everything. I wish you all the best for your wedding!!!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
