Ok all, my fiance & I are really struggling with the concept of getting married at home prior to/after our "ceremony" in Cabo. We have some grumpy guests who could not believe that our wedding they would witness wouldn't be the legal wedding. We are contemplating getting married legally in Mexico.

Here is the issue: I have an event planner in Texas that is helping me with everything, but I feel like with this topic, I need someone locally to help with the coordination, local law, and to make sure it's done correctly.

For those of you who have used a WC in Cabo, Maye, for example, can you extrapolate the cost of just the civil ceremony cost, including coordination of the judge, translator, bloodwork, etc.

Just trying to figure out what it would take to get it done correctly. Thanks!

The "ONLY" reason I hired a WC is because we were having a legal wedding. (However I did end up taking advantage on having one once I hired Maye) For the paperwork, bloodwork and Judge I think it's like 300.00. But add a WC to that and the price goes up depending on what you want your WC to do. I would say 1K should more then cover all the costs, including bouquet and some other small stuff..

So Tammy, do you think if I asked Maye to coordinate only the legality of the ceremony, meaning:

        Coordinate Judge
        Translator
        Blood work
        Paperwork

That it would be probably no more than $400, since I will have everything else coordinated without needing her help?

Well she does the translation. Hmm I would ask her, but I would say 500.00, But I could be wrong. Plus it's like 90.00 more to have your paper work appostiled.

Ok, I'll send her an email and ask. We're just really trying to figure out if it's worth the $$ and the hassle to do it in Mexico.

            Gracias.

BTW, your pictures are fabulous...can't wait to see the rest!

              Jill,

I am using Maye and the only reason I hired a wedding planner too was because we wanted the legal ceremony down there and I didn't want to mess that up! :)

I never even asked people what they thought about us getting legally married in the US and the ceremony down there because I had my own issues with it. I just felt bad about people spending the money to travel to our wedding in the first place and then if they knew that they weren't even witnessing a legal ceremony I would think they may not have wanted to come??

May is charging me $975 and included in that is her fee to organize everything and translate. She said the cost for the Judge and bloodwork is $300 more. I had asked her in the beginning if I wanted her for just day of the wedding coordination and wanted to hire my own vendors, etc... if her fee would be lower and she told me no, it would be the same. So I am taking full advantage of her services.

But for your situation you don't even want her for day of you just want her to arrange the legal stuff...she might work something out with you??

So Tammy, in addition to the $300 we have to pay $90 more for something?
BTW: I love your pics so far!!

Yeah if you want the wedding papers appostiled (Maye has it done in San Jose, and it take a couple days to get back) then it's an additional fee.

Thanks, I just wish I had better ones to share.. :-(

So you say if we want them appostiled..can we choose not to? If we don't, does that make it not legal? Do we have to wait there for at least 2 days after the wedding or does she mail them?

                  Sorry for the questions!!

Michelle, thanks for the info. I just got an email from Maye as I was typing this. She stated that cost is $975, plus the stamp that Tammy mentioned and tax...

I inquired as to whether that is simply for the ceremony with no other services, or if that means I can use her services for other aspects of the wedding as well...so maybe she can coordinate for me some things that my event coordinator here in Texas is having a difficult time with, for example, people calling her back!

Keep me informed, and I'll do the same!

Well when I checked our local SS office they said I needed it appostiled, however Sarah lives in MI as well and she didn't need it. So hell I have no idea what it's for and why you need it.. lol..
