I guess I'm in the same boat too, I think. Problem is, I can't really tell if people are using the site or not. Only 2 people have left comments. We continually encourage our guests to check the website since we are updating it as we go. Maybe it'll be used more as we get a little closer? We'll see!

Yes, same problem on our end. I just sent out a mass email because our guests are not responding to us directly or it's - so and so is "planning" or "maybe" coming. I made note in the email that we can't plan a wedding without knowing numbers so please rsvp. Also, I made sure to mention that we update our website frequently so if you want to be kept in the loop be sure to check it because we are not going to be contacting each person individually....AND finally I mentioned our travel agent info again should they have any questions re: pricing, etc.

Hmmmm.... yanno I actually had a lot of luck with our website because our guests were pretty much addicted to it, lol. Lots of them checked it everyday and still do now even though our wedding was a month ago wink.gif

I will say that I noticed your wedding is about a year out, that's why they might not be using it yet. I think when you're about 4 to 6 months in, they will really start logging on. Another thing that helped me was sending out mass email updates and reminders. Notes about making sure you've got a passport and any airfare deals that I had found. When I emailed, I'd always end it with a "make sure to check our website periodically for all itinerary, wedding and travel information and any last minute changes." Which of course was followed by a link to our site with our site password. Then under your signature list your website again. This really plugs it into their minds and sooner or later, trust me, they will use it!!! rolleyes.gif

I think the website is almost more for me than anyone else. I don't think my guests or other family have visited it at all even though I sent it out. I spent a lot of time on it and at first I was disappointed but after thinking about it I had a great time designing it and it's a fun reminder of my progress. It would be nice to see a comment or two though :-)

I totally get that we have time..and for the most part folks have gone on and looked at it, signed the guestbook but insist on calling me about hotels, air fare, etc..when all this is on the site..so obviously they are "thinking" a bout it...but wil do a mass email but Vegas is cheap enough so I didn't do a TA..I am leaving it up to folks to book where they wanna stay..we will see..gonna just keep referring them back to it, I guess...

I agree with MarieSam, once the wedding date gets closer people will start logging on. My family and friends have been great about using the website. I think that what helps is that when ever I make an update to the website I send a mass email to everyone with the link.

I am so glad I am not alone!!!

My fiance went to a lot of trouble creating our site and I went to even more trouble researching everything from costs of plane tickets, transportation, hotels, etc. in Italy. We even published an itinerary and I cannot tell you the amount of phone calls I get saying..."so what date are you flying over?" and "When are you getting to Positano?".

It just gets frustrating because I have done everything except hold their hands on buying plane tickets and that is still not enough. I may scream the next time I get asked any crazy question that is already on the website.

Ah...that feels good to get some frustrations out with folks who get it!

I did have a friend, who had a destination wedding last year, to ignore some of it...just put the information out there and do your own thing. The guests will make it to the wedding one way or another.

I hope we all have better luck with our guests reading what we've posted on our personal websites.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
