I agree that there are pros and cons everywhere, and you need to go with what will make you happy. For me, although I usually would prefer a place with a busier beach, I liked the idea of something more secluded for a wedding trip. If your TA recomends the Sol Melia group of hotels for weddings and you're set on Varadero, maybe a Melia in Varadero would be a good bet.

Yes it's Mel writing, Ron is my FI. Thanks for the input Sjm and Meli. After sleeping on it, I don't feel comfortable with the idea of getting married in such a secluded place. As for the Melias in Varadero, they are either adults only (we have a 12 yo coming), or not very interesting. But thanks for the advice anyway!

Is there any way we can make sure that we have the room upgrade? cuz my week there seems to be like 4 wed/day.....how many suites do they have

im curious about the seating arrangements....how does this work..where should we sit....or will they just place it for us and we dont have a say?? anyone know??

We heard that there is no guarantee on the upgrade, and that you only get it if there are rooms available. We were going to pay for the upgrade, but decided to take our chances, because it seemed like more people were upgraded than those who weren't. Good Luck!

hey i though it would be neat to see whos getting married at the MLD in 2010 and so on, to help each other out with maybe sharing a photographer, for advice, sharing of deco, your something borrowed, or whatever it may be... post your wedding date and time

Any other past brides around, if you could post a review it is always greatly appreciated! I promise to do one after my wedding, it's very helpful for future brides, especially when you've never been to this resort.

 

Hope everyone's planning is going well. I'm a little worried about getting the pool snack bar, we have 29 ppl coming so I think we will automatically get it - but what happens if there are 3 large weddings in one day? First booked first served?

I highly doubt there will be 3 weddings on my date, it's not high season for tourists but I was just wondering what happens in that situation...

I've been worried about the same thing, honestly. I have 26 people so far including us but that's not really a lot. I really hope we get it. I think I may check with the wedding co-coordinator at the resort a bit closer to the time (once we have the final head count) and see if she can let me know how it's looking. I wonder if they'll do that or if you just have to wait and see.
