I love all of them - agree with Erin to bring other accessories...Love the shoes too. the photographer may also be able to pose you in ways that make you look like the "girls" are bigger.

Thanks so much!! if you have any suggestions on what kind of accessories I should buy that'd be amazing, I have no idea what to get, or what would look good
I originally wanted a tiara - AND already have one which someone gave me as a joke...but when it came down to it, I like the veil in the back much better.

Don't you just love when things happen like that. And now you don't have to worry about buying one. As they can be very $$$

Oh and speaking of chatty - I have over 2000 posts...this site is an obsession!
Oh yaaaah, I don't feel so bad, We're all chatty :)

And it can't be as embarrassing as when I was dress shopping and my friend with me was the one asking "do you have the 'these' to go in 'here' to make them do 'this' for her?" complete with all the hand gestures of inserting padding for my boobs to give them some cleavage and oomph!
lol!!! that is embarrassing, but all in good fun. Must have been funny to watch though lol!!!

tracy I'm surprised that your dad is having problems at the age of 65!! The main cutoffs that I knew of seemed to be more around the 75 or 80 yrs of age (which is where FI's grandparents all fit in).

Check with the company that your traveling through to see if they have recommendations for where to get insurance if they aren't able to offer it to you. A couple suggestions are through RBC Travel or CAA Quebec Travel Insurance... I can't tell you what the coverage is like but WestJet recommends RBC and lots of people have recommended CAA.

We booked with Itravel, and their age cut off is 65, so we called CAA and Blue Cross and to cover both my parents will be $400

I am not sure, but I think it may be due to my dad already having medical problems. I think if the client of Itrave is 65 and over with health issues they wont cover you.

So we are currently looking into seeing if his work will still cover him in April, as he had to retire last year, when he was in a comma for 5 months.

Crossing my fingers and hoping he can be covered by his work, if not I will take up your suggestion and call RBC. Thank you so much for that!! :)

I agree, Tracy- I love your outfits. The necklace is too cute and the jersey is a neat idea. I'm sure you'll have a great time when the time comes! I wouldn't worry too much about how you look in the lingerie, either, I don't think "hmm that doesn't really push up the boobs" will be the first thing going through his mind when he sees these pics, you know?
thank you, your so right, when the FI see these pics the furthest thing from his mind will be how big the girls are, Besides he knows what I got and he is plenty happy with them, guess that's all that matters.

Thanks so much for those great ideas for the poses and shoots, I am so writing that down and bring it with me.
Thank so much again!!

Lets talk legal marriage- are you guys doing it at home or at your destination? If at home, before or after your trip?
I went back and forth trying to safe money. So we booked the legal ceremony down there. But then realized how much money I'd safe if I did a legal ceremony here, and the symbolic one down there.
But the FI nor my mom wanted it that way, the said they'd feel like they are cheating the guest out of wedding, so we kept it with the legal down there and that's all. We've already translated our paperwork and sent it to the WC, we set to legally get married in DR.

Thank you so much, and welcome to the thread!! :)
He is a huge Habs fan, wont miss a game. LOL he is a good man. Are you and the FI for the Habs? OR Ottawa? We're so close to each other.

Kim - As for legal vs. symbolic ceremony, I was soooo set on a legal ceremony, really wanted my guests to witness our "real" wedding, and really wanted our first kiss to be our real first MARRIED kiss. BUT, I've heard from many brides at my resort, and the wedding coordinator, that there is only 1 judge in the DR who covers all weddings in the area, and thus is quite often LATE, and doesn't come until partway through your reception, or the next day. So to pay all that extra money for translation of documents, and the judge fee, to have him not even show up until the middle of reception, thus leaving us with a symbolic ceremony ANYWAY, we decided (after much himming and hawing) to go with a legal ceremony here in Ottawa first. We're getting legally married April Fool's Day, and our DR wedding is April 12. For the legal, I will be wearing a pink/purple dress (NO WHITE!), we are having our parents and 2 witnesses only, not exchanging rings, and doing traditional vows. To me, it's NOT our marriage/wedding, so I want to make it as little like a wedding as possible!Tara
I heard the same thing about th judge in DR, but it's not true they have a few judges in Punta Cana. I think there is between 3-5 judges.
My WC assured me I'd getting married on the 13th just the time might change but I'd be aware of it days before. I hope it works out. lol
I love the idea of APril fools days, great idea, that'd be so much fun!!
Aww you'll def have to post pics of your legal ceremony in ottawa, I'd love to see your dress.
I would have done the same thing if I was to do the legal ceremony here, no rings, just my parents and his. Sounds so perfect, then you can have your 'real wedding' in dr!!
Great idea!! :)

There's another thread discussing mugs for us CDN buyers at frustrated-where-find-mugs-canada-54877 which might help you. One of the other girls said that she bought 50mugs I think from discountmugs and her brokerage charges were about $63. I am lucky enough to have a friend in the US who lets me send everything to her and the she passes it along to me :) For all the places that offer free US shipping, it works out great for me! Hope that helps!

I found it to much to have to order a min, which was way to many for me (50, and I needed 23) and then on top of the duty fee it wasn't worth it. Bought the mugs at the dollar store, printed my clip art to label stickers and then use book protector to cover the front side (that made it waterproof)
It cost me $1.75 a mug! so if anyone doesn't want to order them from the states there is always this options.

We're having our legal ceremony at home as well, but not sure still about doing it before or after. Initially it was going to be after so that we didn't ruin the real wedding feeling in Mexico for ourselves or our guests but after hearing from a couple girls here who had VERY none-wedding-like legal days, we might just have it before hand so that once we have the ceremony in MX then everything will be totally official in all regards. Either way, we're not inviting any friends or family and *might* even have a DOUBLE legal signing day with the lovely SuzyQ76!! We figured that since we're both going the same route and don't want anyone here to know then using each other as witnesses is just about perfect!! Oh except my niece will be coming as well. She's only 7 and isn't coming to MX with us and is really sad about missing out on being a flower girl - so we're going to do a mock wedding certificate for her to sign as well to give her approval :)
Aww that's an amazing idea to have you and Suzy sign together and have each other as witness's.
and the flower girl will be adorable. That's cute, you'll have her sign a 'fake paper'
I read somewhere on here, they got 'fake' papers but they looked so real, Maybe i can find the thread for you.and you can print those.
When will guys have the legal ceremony?

Well technically my niece won't even be a flower girl as we're making the legal part completely and totally non-wedding like. We have to use a wedding commissioner here in Alberta and she'd suggested my niece stand and hold her flowers etc and honestly I wanted to gag!! It's just SO not what we're like or what we wanted!! But after that, the commissioner said that she could make a copy of the certificate for us and said it would look just like the real thing - so I'm happy with that! I'd love the other link though, just in case we need a back up copy if we don't like hers LOL!

Otherwise we haven't picked an actual date yet for the legal part. Both my and Suzy's FI's think its still a bit early to be worrying about it and since we only need to give the commissioner a couple weeks notice, I figured it was okay to put it off a little longer. No matter what, it will still be early to mid April before we actually do the signing (either before I head off to MX or once I get back right before Suzy heads off).

I used CAA when my TA's insurance company (I think that they are underwritten by the co-operators) wouldn't insure my grandpa, he's 86. The rate was crazy but he didn't care....almost $800 for cancellation and medical . My grandmother who got an A+ rating was still over $300 for both. I have heard that Royal is good as well....and I believe that you can get a quote online and/or by phone.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
