So I figured the gift's for my parents,My mom I will get her an engraved locked necklace with a pic of me and her when i was a kid, and then I'll put one of me and her of the wedding (I'll have to put that in when we get back) and for my dad... engraved pocket watch. Now for the parents in-laws... they haven't help at alllll but I still want to give them a little something... would just an album of the weddings be enough? what you girls think? I'd get the one I did for the boudoir book, which the pictures are the actual pages.

Nat.. I love your gifts your giving, I checked out the websites!!

Michele, I feel you def not enough time in a day.. and I def don't help myself when I wake up at 1pm!!!blush2.gif

But I shouldn't be complaining to you, you just took a new job!! really hope your not over whelmed tho!! ?

I love your locket idea- that is so sweet! Especially with the two sets of pictures, your mother will love it! I think an album for the inlaws is nice, too. Honestly you can't go wrong with wedding pictures. I'm sure they'll like it.

ETA- I can't believe all the tickers that are in days now! It's really happening soon, isn't it? I'm so excited for everyone (including myselfwoot.gif).

i am a terrible future daughter-in-law, but i'm not doing anything for my in-laws. i made a frame for my mom that has 3 openings.. i included a picture of her and my dad at their wedding (they have NO wedding pictures of their own out), my brother and my SIL at theirs and then an opening for one of our pictures. i got my dad a tommy bahama shirt to wear in the wedding.

since my parents are paying for everything, i didn't see a reason to do anything for J's parents (and he agrees). they are paying for his birthday dinner (april 1st) which is when we'll pass out the remaining OOT bags and the BM and flower girl gifts. maybe we'll make them a small album afterwards? who knows!! you girls know that i hate traditions and things you "have to do" anyway!!

michele i am SO glad that i helped you out!! anything to bring down the stress!

i forgot to tell everyone that we actually have half of our wedding stuff packed and out of our house! my brother and SIL are taking Delta and you can check 2 bags per person for free to the Caribbean (the rest of us can only do 1) so i told them they are required to take a bag for us! all they have to do is carry it.. i did the rest! i was surprised by how little was left after i made it up for them! feels good to have that done too! i can update my wedding packing list (i made a spreadsheet that has everything wedding-related that we're bringing and which bag it's packed in) too! hello freaksih organization.

erin I'm kind of like you, not really wanting to do the traditional stuff all the time. There are a few things that I caved to though because I know FI's parents will appreciate them (and considering all the problems we've had with them already, I'll do the small things to make them shut up at this point LOL!!!!!!).

And good for you to get two bags packed and out already! That must feel SO good! I can't even imagine only being allowed to take a single bag each either!!! Every single one of our guests is allowed two bags each up to 40 or 50 lbs each! I'm still debating if we want to hand out our OOT bags ahead of time since I'm more worried that people might leave them behind. Actually it's not the bags I'd worry about but the mugs... maybe we'll just pack those ourselves. Haha gotta love my thinking out loud huh?!

I will definitely be packing ahead of time and I've already started making little piles of things around the house. Once I get the OOT bags assembled, they go right into a suitcase at this point anyways, and my clothes are all being put into a single drawer to keep them tucked away. When I pack usually I would lay everything I WANT out on my bed and then only pack the things I NEED so that should cover most of it. Plus it's not like I'm going to be needing bikinis, shorts and tanks in the weather we've got here right now!

Thanks Mel, I like the idea too... Now I just have to go find a pic of us when i was a kid.. she hates taking pics so I know there isn't a lot!

I think they'll like the album too, and if not.. well then they should have helped lol!

It really is.. coming soooo fast. How much does every have left to do?

Basically for me, burn cd's of my ceremony music, and the must have songs for a dj we decided to hire for a private beach party. Decided a hair style, print some emails.

Then it goes back to my summer clothes and what I need.. oh and spring cleaning!!!!

Erin, I def don't think your a bad daughter in law, I can relate with the in laws not helping at all, and especially since your parents are paying for the trip. You're doing what you feel is right, I totally support you so does ur FI! (not that u need my support lol!!!)

I packed something, but they will be taken out and handed out as they are all the OOT bags lol. you must feel so relieved.. I'm going to start doing that..the way I see it is out of sight out of mind lol.

I'm just waiting for my brochures to come in and to hand out my bangs... hope they come in time, I ordered it on Friday and took the slow 21 day shipment.

Meghan, If your really worried they will leave it behind (like I am) Hand it out a few days before everyone leaves, this way you can be assure ppl have started packing, and you can tell them to go put it in their luggage right away (what I'm doing is going to everyone house lol)

I like your routine for packing, I'll do the exact same.. put everything on the bed and take what I NEED. Thanks for thinking out loud lol! wink.gif

I didn't get gifts for either set of parents - is that bad? i still never gave my parents gifts for chanukah or xmas 9or my parents anniversary which was 12/24 - we had a blizzard and my friend's dad died which really messed with our holiday plans. Oh, and then I wore the necklace I got for my mom...never bought my dad or his parents anything.
I suck

You seriously made such a huge change in my whole outlook on things - I'm going to start assembling tonight.....maybe!

I wish I could do that - I'd be nervous that i'd forget things!

i am leaving for Jamaica 3 weeks from tomorrow!
Last night i did my Thank Yous from my shower so they were out of the way.
I also started tanning last night...i know, I don't listen to my own lecture.

I still have to finish addressing the invitations to my AHR - I made them on, of course, VistaPrint - my mom wants them out before we leave - the party is May 22. I just need like 5 more addresses. We went from inviting 30 to about 50 people.

My room looks like it threw up VistaPrint stuff too by the way...I would take a picture if it wasn't so embarassing - FI moved out (sleeping in the other room) and the wedding moved in!

it actually does make me feel better that you guys don't think i'm bad!! and michele, it is obviously a personal decision whether or not you want to do gifts.. i did crack up that you already wore the necklace you got for your mom though!

you leave in 3 weeks?!? that is nuts!! your wedding is going to seem like forever ago once it comes time for ours!!

meghan, that's actually a good idea to lay out things to pack already. i'd be afraid that i'd decide to wear something early and then wash it and forget to put it back with the stuff to pack!

Michele

Your to funny!!!

I really don't think any parent expect a gift.

I wouldn't worry about not giving one!! and you can also make an album for each set of your wedding pics, they'd love that!!

Good for you girl in getting a lot done especially for your AHR (I can't even think of it until I come back, but it's suppose to be in July so I'm safe, as invites go anyway which I already made from VistaPrint)

LOL you threw up vistaprint all of your room, had be crying laughing!!

like you said, 3 more weeks until it's all out of your house and the NEW husband back in his room. I can't believe your leaving in 3 weeks (well me too, I leave on the 10th.. your wedding day, I'll be thinking of you!!!!!! )

Erin,

Don't worry, I def wont be out of the wedding mode, I'm so excited for all of you how are towards the end of the month.. looking forward to seeing pictures and your reviews!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
