Send favors and OOT bags to ROR before we arrive?

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

So my palm fans came in today from Favors & Flowers (great price and fast shipping, I would definitely recommend them), and now I have a quandry. I just looked at my bouquet (from Wedideas) my 3 floral table decorations, the 30 palm fans, and I realized I have A LOT of stuff to get down to Jamaica. And that doesn't even include the plastic drink steins I am waiting to have come in. Normally I might say to just get 2 extra suitcases and bring it all down with us, but we are traveling with my 2 kids, so ANY additional bags or hassel are definitely not part of the plan.

So my question to other ROR brides is, did you bring all of your favors/decorations/etc with you in your checked baggage, or did you ship them down there in advance? If you did ship them to the hotel, did you send them directly to Chandlyn for her to hold onto until you got there? If so, approximately how much was it to send it? Since I am traveling from Boston, UPS Ground isn't really an option.

Any and all opinions, advice or stories about how you handled this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We spread out our luggage (5 large suitcases of decorations) between family members. Family took 4 our of JFK and we took 1 out of Charlotte.

This topic has been discussed before. Consensus is not to ship. They can be held up at customs so you might not get the stuff, Chandlyn might not accept the stuff since she does not want to be held responsible and it will cost a ton for you to ship it.

Good luck with everything!!

Normally I would try, but FI's family is spread all over and they make up the majority of the wedding guests. About half are coming in from IL and the other half are coming from England, Wales or Scotland, and the cost to get all the items to them would be more than the cost of shipping to Jamaica.

I will probably try and get in touch with Chandlyn and see if it would be possible to have the items delivered to her at the hotel via UPS with a scheduled arrival date of the day after we arrive.

With a toddler still in diapers and and older child, I don't want to be so concerned about all the extra baggage while trying to keep an eye on them at the airports. Hopefully I'll know better once the mugs arrive....maybe this will be the most stress I have for the wedding! smile36.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
