Negotiating Prices?

Recommended Posts

I have almost negotiated everything for our wedding!

I have budgeted so much less than they offer.... SO much less!!!! they tell me something and I definitely don't have that in the budget and I straight up tell them what I can afford and they either drop their price or offer something else similar for my price.

I want to make a small point real quick. Vendors ask for a certain amount for a reason, generally they have room to budge, but I don't think for everything you should negotiate. Really think is it worth that, if you think so then take it. I can't stand people who try to negotiate every small detail. I have a small budget. I had no idea on the prices for certain things so alot of my bigger things, which seems like everything to me, but not really everything. I think negotiating is worth it if you're making a big order or giving alot of business to someone.

Please don't be someone who negotiates every detail its very tacky! If there is something you really want and you just hadn't budgeted for that, then say you know I budgeted for this. I personally have not told someone this is my price take it or leave it. I say this is what I've budgeted and they either streamline to meet my needs and price or really explain to me what I'm getting for the price and of course I wouldn't be negotiating unless i really wanted it so I take it and if it hurts my budget I work more, or I cut elsewhere.

there are alot of vendors here who do great work and give great prices to BDW girls, so I really encourage you to not give them a take it or leave it. they give alot of great advice and input for us and are trying to run a business.

I'm not saying its wrong to negotiate, I've negotiated my big ticket items, but have definitely made it worth the vendors time and business.

I had to negotiate alot of prices for my wedding, but often it was things that I felt they were overcharging. For example, if I had looked at a restaurants menu and new that I could get the same meal for $30/person but they quoted me $100/person, I would tell them that by budget was $30. I ended up paying a service fee, but it was minimal compared to the extra $70/person they were going to charge me.

I wanted to point this out so other brides at resorts like mine wouldn't be naive. I saved several thousand dollars by doing this!

Even if you're negotiating directly with vendors, I don't think I'd ever call negotiation "tacky" - this is business, and the vendors can always say no to your proposed price if they wouldn't make a sufficient profit. Prices are almost always negotiable.
I was in no way calling anyone on thread "tacky" But this thread is really encouraging for everyone to negotiate. I'm saying if its a good price take it don't try and negotiate everyone down to the last dollar. If its overpriced by all means negotiate.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
