Need help and opinions please!

Recommended Posts

So, I keep changing my mind on where I want to get married and could use some input. I was thinking I could tell you what we are looking for and you could give your feedback. Any suggestions/opinions/etc are greatly appreciated! We are so lost, we can't even decide on a country! lol!

We DEFINITELY want the following at a resort:

-All Inclusive

-A week stay for hotel to be around $1500 for two people sharing a room

-Beach Ceremony (which we already agreed to do symbolic and official at home)

-Private area for reception

-Not Mexico

-Kids Welcomed

-We want an established resort (don't wanna deal with construction/people still trying to get into the swing of things/etc)

-We want to enjoy the beach, pool(s), and spa

-We want on-site activities available (such as snorkeling/kayaking/etc but not necessarily those exact activities)

I want the guests to come to the resort and feel like there is plenty to do there that they do not have to leave to find things to do unless they WANT to. (if that makes sense?) I went to Aventura Spa Palace and it was perfect because we never had to leave the resort! I want guests to go to this place and feel the same way!

It is one thing for me to look at places, but I haven't had the chance to travel a lot so I do not know first hand what each place is like. I just want to thank you in advance for your help! Hopefully we will find some where to go! lol

i can say for sure that all of the things you are looking for they have at dreams in punta cana (or really, any of the dreams resorts)... although i'm sure there are a ton of other places that fit those requirements as well!

the only one i'm not sure about the is the $1500... do you mean for one person or for a couple? from my experience that's VERY inexpensive for two people unless you aren't including airfare in which case it is doable. my packages for guests coming from cincinnati (direct flight to PC) for 7 days are $1500 a person which includes air and all airport transfers and tips.

i was thinking around 1500-2000 for hotel only

thanks so much for advice! its just so hard to find a country and then find the perfect resort on top of it! lol im sure you all can relate!

Keep in mind that you are requesting an all inclusive that will only cost $107.15 per day /per person for 7 nights.

That is really inexpensive for three meals, all beverages, watersports, entertainment plus lodging.

Most destinations you'll find it hard just to eat & drink decent meals ( not the fast food kind!) on that budget -let alone include everything else. Not that it isn't do able at certains times of the year but keep in mind that you will not be getting Adventura Spa quality on that budget.

Your best bets will be to look at Jamaica, DR and Mexico- the All inclusives price much better there than the other Caribbean islands ( keep in mind that DR is not as developed as the other two destinations and it really won't offer as much to do outside of the resort anyways!).

Why won't you consider Mexico?

I'm doing a cruise. Everything is included except alcohol. It's nice because the price is reasonable, there are a ton of things to do, and you can get married on the beach at whatever island you choose. We are sailing out of NYC to Bermuda. I don't know if a cruise is out of the question, but it's another option!

thanks! yea i guess i'm thinking more like 250-300/night for a room... I'm sure Im worrying about guests too much cause really if people come thats great, if not, its still ok.

I was previously married before and mexico was where we honeymooned. I originally wanted to get married in mexico but was told it "wasn't right" if I had my wedding there (from my moms pov). Although maybe I can go to a different part of mexico and get away with it lol. I dunno. Its so frustrating! I just wanna be set on a place and be able to set a date. Cause right now without knowing where to go and all... we havent picked a date lol. oh well! thanks for your input and listening to me ramble on!

That's a pretty good reason to not have your DW in mexico!

I'd recommend looking at Jamaica or DR -easy flights, decent all inclusives in the 3-4 star range that will fit into the 250-300 a night range. If your traveling in the fall you may even be able to look at a 5 star property.

I'd recommend to contact TA Maureen- she's fantastic to work with ( I get rave reviews on her all the time :) !) and she'll really be able to assist in taking all the stress and guess work out of finding the perfect resort for you!

I am getting married in Punta Cana and the resort I chose was the Barcelo Bavaro Complex. Its very economical and they have 6 resorts that are part of the complex. Prices vary depending on the resort. The cheapest being 60 per person to 90 per person. I have guests staying at the resort of their choice and they can all come to the wedding without me having to pay extra for them. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
