Wire Money Transfer to Mexico

Recommended Posts

I wired money through my bank a couple of months ago and it went through the next day. They said it depends on when the "recieving bank" accepts the transfer and does their paperwork. Maybe you shoudl call your bank and they can give you some info? good luck!

Thanks for the responses ladies!

I had the bank trace the wire and it was actually received the same day it was sent. So, the banker gave me a confirmation number so the vendor can locate the transaction.

The problem was that when the money arrived at HSBC in Mexico, it went through an another entity before being distributed to the vendor. So, when the vendor received the wire, it wasn't under my name/BoA but the other entity's name. Who knew...

Just an FYI!

Check the wire instructions to see if it goes through a US bank first. If it does, you should only be charged a for a domestic wire, not an international, which will save you $15-20.

The bank I worked at had more reasonable fees than most. Domestic: $15, International: $30

I wouldn't recommend shopping around. You should wire money through a trusted bank. Plus you don't want to open a new bank account and begin sending out international wires. It will trigger some red flags that there might be some illegal or terrorist action going on.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
