New Posts...Only 4 Pages??

you know there are many ways to view new posts - you can just click on specific sub-forums (like Jamaica or Chit Chat, etc.)

I know I can do that, but it is so complicated. We used to have 8 pages of 'Unread/New Posts' and I got to see all the posts from all the sub-forums. Now I have 4 (but can only look at 3) pages. I am not getting married on Cabo, but still like to read what's new....or give my opinion on. I don't want to go to each sub-forum to do so....if that makes ANY sense.

yes that makes sense! but just so you know when you saw 8 pages / 200 posts it was not ALL new posts just the most recent 200. right now it is 4 pages/100 posts so it is the most recent 100 new posts.

if you are concerend you are missing things in specific forums that is why i recommended checking by sub-forums b/c even with the old way you were not seeing ALL the new posts just the most recent 200 vs. 100 right now.

does that make sense??

I was going to say the same thing that Alyssa did, that there are still all those other unread posts, but now you only have the 1st 4 pages showing. But if you are reading the posts, it won't just show the next 90, but will still show the last 100.

 

Like pages 1-4 shows the last 100 posts, then you are bored at lunchtime or something and ready 30 posts. It will show the remaining 70 plus 30 older ones that weren't there before.

 

Also, a good place to check if you are afraid of missing something is to check your usercp for any thread that you replied to before. That will always be a list of new replies for anything that you are "subscribed" to. I check that most often in case things get buried.

Is there a reason it has been taken down to 100 threads vs the 200 it was just last week?

Okay....thank you for clearing that up. I have noticed a drop in the amount of 'new' threads a few times since I've joined, but never brought it up....so I didn't know what was going on.

yes, there is a reason...i made the decision on MY forum to lower the amount of new posts because it was causing problems with hosting.

do you have a problem with that?

No, I have no problem with it at all, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. Like you said it is YOUR forum and you can run it how you deem. I think you do a GREAT job with the forum and I am glad to have it as a resource.

that's what i was trying to explain above.
