Thank you so much. I am a little nervous about a destination wedding because I tend to be a perfectionist. But so far all the pictures have looked nice, I will def take your advice and bring my own linens!

Well that makes my initial decision seem even better!! The pool it is. Note to self - get cute bikini to wear under dress at the end of the reception for the obligatory dunking in the pool - because you know it's going to happen!!

My Next question - DJs - So far the only one I have heard by name that I can remember is DJ Mannia (thanks Boston). Seems great - any other suggestions if he is not available? When should I book him??

Thanks Ladies - I don't know what I would do without your great feedback! Lisa

I think the bugs depend on the season and the weather. When I went the year before our wedding to plan I didn't see one bug and it was October. This time it was much different. I would ask the WC for their opinion on alternate location.

I had the WC book the DJ. I emailed him after just to go over details. I would tell the WC sooner than later that you would like them. DJ Mannia is the dj the hotel uses I didn't research any others. You could always email them too just to be sure of availability.

Hello Brides,

I have FINALLY decided to go with the Excellence for my wedding. I have read the thread hope I'm not duplicating. My proposed wedding date is October 29, 2010

1. What deposit amount is needed to confirm your date and time?

2. Did you all book your resort and travel at the same time? I see the confirmation form I received from asks for my travel agents information. I'm still working on that.

3. Does the Excellence offer any 'freebies' I need to ask for?

4. Did anyone else work with Ana and how did you find her response time to your emails?

5. Can anyone recommend a GREAT travel agent? I'm in Baltimore, MD

Any advice you can offer to a newbie just starting to plan please share.

Thank s

That time in October might be fine. My date is in June and Ana said it's still fairly hot at 3, but I need there to still be sunlight for photos. We're doing 4pm.

I didn't have to do a deposit, but my TA had to send in a confirmation to Ana that we'd booked travel to the resort. We hadn't actually paid anything at that point, but she needed a confirmation from the TA. I don't know what she does for people who don't use a TA.

There are some benefits you get but it's based on how many rooms/nights you have booked. I forget what they are exactly, but they're on the website.

Ana is okay, I've enjoyed working with her....caveat: if she gets busy she will dump you onto her associates and their English is not as good as hers. She comprehends our phrases and slang and American wedding customs better than they do, IMHO. I had to get my TA to get on her a couple of times about that; esp because the associates gave wayyy different answers than Ana.

Also, advice that my TA gave me: DOCUMENT AND SAVE EVERYTHING! When the time comes, print off ALL your conversations and pack them. They could come in handy when you get down there if there is some sort of snafu or change or misunderstanding.

I hope some of that helps, and CONGRATS! *does happy dance*

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
