We are date twins!!! I'm also getting married on May 14, 2010 - except our wedding is in the Mayan Riviera.
It's funny though, we almost went with the Riu Palace Cabo. It looks so beautiful, and someone I know went to a wedding there, they said it was amazing! Good choice. cheers.gif
Cara,

You don't know how great it is to hear that someone went to a wedding there and had a great time. I was starting to get worried because all I hear are Dream's brides when Cabo is mentioned. We are heading down over Labor Day weekend to scope it out. Can't wait! Have you visited your site already?

I have some pictures of our trip to Barcelo back in Dec 2006. If you would like to see them send me a PM and I can forward you a link to our site.
Wow 125 people!!! I think we invited somewhere around 70+, and ended up with 55. LOL

I've actually heard from 2 people that the resort is beautiful. My coworker, and someone my aunt knows also went to a wedding there and said it was perfect and absolutely gorgeous. And I'm sure you can't go wrong with a Riu!! They are one of my favorite resorts. Have you ever stayed at any Riu before?
We won't be able to do a site visit unfortunately. We thought about it, but it's just not in our means right now. But luckily we've heard nothing but good things about this resort, so it eases the mind a bit. :)

Hello everyone! Oh my goodness there are a lot of us, and that makes me feel so so so much better! Cara, you and I are sight buddies! I'm getting married at the Barcelo Riviera Maya Palace on January 13, 2010. I am so excited! I'm just a little concerned, because my wedding coordinator has been a little slow on getting the ball rolling. Maybe I'm just being paranoid though, since the wedding isn't until January. I'm just a nit-picker....everything has to be perfect....so on and so forth.

We only have a small number of people going at this point. 22 have booked, and I don't know how much higher that will get, because most of our friends are finishing up their senior year in college. Anyways, just thought I'd stop in and say hello really quickly!

Hey Brandy!!
I know what you mean, the coordinators can be a little slow at getting back to emails. Have you confirmed your day yet? Which coordinator do you have?

I'm doing a site visit over Labor Day Weekend, and no I've never been to a RIU. I'm excited, and boy do I need the vacation. This should be an awesome experience. The more I look at this site the more I know I made the right decision in going away to get married. I think there is something magical about getting married on the beach, it is going to force me to just sit back and enjoy the day.

Yes, our date is confirmed. Funny story on the coordinator though. Our first travel agent was a bit shady, and kept changing the amount they wanted for deposits and stuff after we had called ahead ten minutes earlier, so we went to a different company. Somewhere in the shuffle we lost our wedding coordinators info. I think her name was Xhali....something along those lines, it was a really unique name. Now Ana has taken over the plans for our wedding. She seems really nice, but I've heard some not so nice reviews on her work in the past, which is making me a little uncomfortable.

I know what you mean!!! At first, I thought I made the wrong decision because all the prices were coming back so high and it didn't seem like people were willing to pay. But we got an awesome quote and now I couldn't be happier!!!!
And that's the way it should be - the bride should be able to sit back on her day and enjoy it, instead of stress. cool.gif

Oh yes I've heard of Xhail, I haven't heard of Ana though. I have Gabriela and so far she's been good. Are you a part of the Unnoficial Barcelo forum? They are SO helpful there!

Ya, we are having a difficult time separating our invite list. Thank goodness we will not do the actual wedding in Vancouver! My FI and I both have large extended families (3 sets of parents and he has two siblings I have one and three step-brothers - all with their own families!).

We will not expect that many people to show up though...hopefullyblush2.gif

No, I'm not a part of the forum. I haven't even heard of it until now! Do you have the web address for it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
