Finally picked a Resort.. Now What???

Recommended Posts

I'm really excited!! After 6 months I've finally picked a resort! smile123.gif Grand Bahia Principe in Mayan. I'm still not sure between Tulum or Akumal, but at least i'm getting closer. I want the one closest to the beach.

So, what do I do now?? I have a travel agent looking into prices, and I have two dates in mind.. Do I contact the resort right away?? Or should I wait for prices first?? We want May 2010, I feel like that is still alot of time, but I'm not sure what to do next...

Any info would be great!! Thankselefant.gif

If you have a specific date in mind, I would contact the resort soon. They may say they are not reserving dates yet or you might get exactly what you want. It might be too soon to get rates, but you can always contact a BDW travel agent and see what they say.

Thanks guys.. I've been emailing the resort, but they keep sending me the same wedding packages. I guess I just pick a package?? Then she might want to know what dates i'm interested in.? I feel retarted, like i should know this stuff. I thought this Destination stuff would be easy... I'm only at the beginging and I feel lost..Haha

Ooh - Congrats!

We stayed at Bahia Principe Akumal in 2007 and it was fantastic. Apparently the Akumal side is newer than the Tulum side. Our room had an ocean view and it was right in front of the water, but it was kind of a long walk to get to a swimming area.

One other detail I have heard - if you want to use the gazebo at Tulum - you have to stay on the Tulum side.

AWESOME! congratulations! I got married at the Akumal side and I can tell you it was one of the BEST decisions I ever made. I have never regretted it.

Make sure you read the entire thread (like 100+ pages) about the resort. A lot of your information will be covered there, including booking your date. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t786

As for which resort is closer to the water... it depends. Akumal and Tulum are on the water. Almost all of Tulum is very close to the water, where only the suites of Akumal are on the water.

One important thing is remembering that you can only get married on the side you are staying at. so if you want the gazebo wedding you'll have to get married on the Tulum side. If you want to get married underneath the hammock arches on the beach (that's where I got married) you'll have to stay at the Akumal side.

Happy planning and please ask me any questions you'd like!

I think I'm going with Tulum. One of my girlfriends got married at Akumal, so I think I should switch it up a bit. I am leaning more towards the Gazebo lately, it looks to pretty. Tlseege, do you have your wedding photos on here that I can take a look at??

Thanks for all your help ladies!! I just found out yesterday that they aren't booking dates until March, so i just have to fill out the form and out a request in. Hopefully I get the date I'm looking for.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
