nleblanc-- CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU!  I think I am using your same photographer, so great to hear you liked him!  I will likely have a wedding the same size as yours, so if you dont mind sharing how you had the reception tables set up, how you did your rehearsal dinner, etc., I would greatly appreciate it... and of course cannot wait to see pictures.  Congratulations again, and I am so excited!

Hi Ladies, I have been reading thread since yesterday. We're planning our wedding sometime in May 2012. We don't know the exact date yet My boyfriend then (now fiance') have been to Jamaica several times and stayed at Villa Sur Mer, we just fell in love with this place.Back then we told each other this is the place we're going to tie the knot.  Villa Sur Mer which is on the cliff side was on top of my list, unfortunately I've sent a bunch of emails to them inquiring about wedding packages but no response from them.  We were disappointed and started looking for other resorts.  We were actually considering RIU in Negril but thank goodness I found Moon Dance Cliff/Villa.  Just by looking at their website, we both fell in love. Next year we're planning a trip to Jamaica to check MDC out and maybe other resorts.  But just by reading the threads here and reviews on tripadvisor I'm already SOLD with MDC.

I've read that MDC doesn't offer airport transfers.  If any of you ladies interested, whenever we go to Jamaica we always ask Dudley from Big Ship Tours to pick us up from the airport to Negril. He is really nice and very careful driver. As soon as you step in to his van he's got a cold red stripe and bottled water waiting for you. His rates are pretty reasonable too.  Check out his link http://www.bigshiptour.com/jamaica-transportation.html

I have heard nothing but rave reviews abotu MDC, so I am crazy excited.  The resort told me they do airport transfers, but I guess it doesnt hurt to have a backup plan.  Thanks MZthan6!  Since you have been there several times, please feel free to share any expertise about good places to go in Negril!  I think a lot of my guests are staying for a full week, so I was hoping to give them some suggestions on things to do outside of the wedding activities.  Thanks in advance!

Hi Jacki7896 there are lots of things to do in Jamaica, if you have guests staying for a full week, I suggests to stay in Montego Bay for a couple of nights and check out Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios. We usually stay at the Wexford Hotel (MoBay) it's basic hotel just to crash for a couple of nights is tolerable plus it's walking distance to Doctor's Cove Beach and Aquasol Beach (they do charge entrance fee btw). The hidden gem of MoBay is the Pork Pit, good cheap eats. They serve the best jerk Chicken and Pork. In Negril, the best way to travel is to rent a scooter especially if you're staying on the cliff side, there's no need to haggle with taxi drivers just to go to the beach. Perfect spot on the beach is Alfred's it's restaurant during the day turned bar/club at night. If I'm not mistaken they have a live reggae show (and Fire Dance) on Fridays.  There are a lot of things to do on the beach side it's always happening down there.  Cliff side is on the quiet side, more chill, relax.. but there's Rick's Cafe it's always happening in there too.

Hi Meitra - How were you able to view Moon Dance on Twitter? I logged on and searched for them, found them but then got a message that a request was being sent to Moon Dance to allow me to see their tweets. I thought that was kind of bizarre. I don't tweet, but logged on using my FI's account. Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
