We are suppoose to be getting marrtied at the InterContinental Presidente Los Cabos Resort. I have heard one from the wedding coordinator and we tentatively set a date for July 9, 2009. Since his call he has not returned any of my emails!! I am getting very frustrated. I have also heard alot of negatives about having a civil ceremony! Can anyone help me with what legal documetns are needed?? Also any tips on whatever else I may need to do would also be appreciated!

Thanks,

Hello Tracy! and CONGRATS to the both of you on your engagement! I'm Melita and my Fiance's name is Charlie. We are torn between 2 places to have our wedding. Dreams Resort or Presidente InterContinental Los Cabos Resort. For our budget and our guest list, it looks like we'll be having our wedding at the Presidente InterContinental. Our tentative date is set for January 21, 2010. We too have been questioning the type of ceremonies as well. A civil Ceremony which is supposedly LEGAL requires a blood test, which from what i understand, you have to be in Mexico 4 days prior to the wedding date. OR there is what they call a religious and symbolic ceremonies. Which is NOT legal, and does not require a blood test. We had already planned on going to the SanFrancisco courthouse when we return from Cabo after the wedding to legalize our marriage. So, there was no point in having to arrive 4 days early, just to get TORTURED for a blood test!! I found this site late last night, and that is what i understood from it. Take a look at it, and let me know if i understood wrong??

Hi Tracy

I just finished looking at the site Melita told you, and it has accurate info.

The legal wedding done in Mexico it's considered legal all over the world, but if you want to play it safe, you can get it apostille, which is done in La Paz and it doesn't take very long.

Sadly, If you're a needle heater like me, it's a must to get the blood test done in Mexico prior to your wedding, but depending on the lab, there are some people that make the blood pinching a bit more comfortable.

Happy planning

Hello Tracylee,

There is nothing negative about the Civil ceremony, the only thing is that indeed has a few requirements that you probably don't have in Canada. The blood tests are a must as well as the 4 working days prior to your wedding. If you don't want to go through any of these, you should consider getting legally married in Canada and have your symbolic ceremony in Cabo.

I'd like to vouch for Jesus at Presidente InterContinental, I know he is a good wedding coordinator.

If he doesn't return e-mails promptly, just give him a quick call. Sometimes that's all it takes. Nevertheless, hav fun planning your wedding and may your wedding be one of the best ever!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
