We are going... Wedding in two weeks and i don't know what to do re music... any suggestions would be a HUGE help... Anybody knows of a good cover band to play for the dancing part of the night? I saw Vertigo mentioned by have no idea how to get in touch with them (searched and search the web but didn't come up with anything)... Any others that people liked? Would love to have them play a good mix of cheesy '80s, curent top 40 and any other requests... Also, what about music during the ceremony? Many thanks!!!!

Just got back from my wedding last weekend. Everything was perfect. Thanks to everyone on here for all the help. I'll post a review of everything as soon as I can.

I'm glad to hear that your wedding was perfect! Congratulations! I'd love to hear your thoughts...what you liked the best and what you would have changed. I'm in the process of planning my wedding at Ana y Jose (which isn't until February) and I find the reviews so helpful.

Congrats again!

Lisa

hello

i got married last week and wanted to share my experience with other brides to be. First i want to thank all the posts that i have been following in the past 6 months, it was very helpful.

Our wedding was definitely a giant success, we had the time of our life at Ana y Jose beach club!

I found the organization extremely smooth and easy, i actually loved organizing my wedding!

The location was definitely amazing, the staff was so professional, they even had someone standing behind me during dinner to pull my chair in case i wanted to stand up or sit down, same with my husband...and they kept on bringing drinks, trays of tequila shots all night...and after we were all pretty drunk, they came with bottles of water, which i thought was so thoughtful! since the preparation started, i basically had nothing to do, it was all taken care of by Claudia, jackie's assistant...i saw the final result when i was ready to walk down the aisle, and i was really happy about the decorations.

the only stressful moment was during the hair and makeup preparation, we were behind and Nora the person that jackie recommends was doing a horrible job, my friend came and fixed it. I wouldn't recommend her even though we had a test, the day of she didnt do what i wanted...

The kids played on the trampoline all night long, they had a blast.

We also rented a projector/screen for my dad's surprise, it was enormous!

we also rented a big dance floor 8x8m, it was perfect! we were around 65 people.

we brought our own DJ, she dealt with all technical details directly with jackie, i felt like jackie didn't really know what the DJ had to bring, but at the end she figured it out.

We also brought our own photographers, they were sensational...

we ordered the cake at Turtle bay bakery, it was great!

we also had a guitar player, i have no idea what he played, if he played what we requested, nobody remembers or could tell me ..im not even sure i walked down the aisle on pachelbel...

and the mariachi were great, they started playing after the ceremony, it was awesome.

we had also bought maracas for our guests to start playing once we are married, but they were so excited to see us walk down the aisle, they started shaking them right away! it was so much fun for them and for us too

the maracas were our party favors, they made the night worth it for some, who just couldnt stop playing all night long!

i should have photos soon, will put them up!

i would recomment the beach club to anybody for anything,...i had a blast!

Your wedding sounds like it was amazing! Thank you for sharing!!!! I'd love to see your photos whenever you have a chance to post them.

I'm sorry to hear about your hair issues. I was planning to use the stylist that Jackie recommends and am getting a trial done in November. Now I'm thinking that I might want to find a 2nd stylist to do a trial and see who does a better job.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a hair stylist in Tulum? I'm getting married in Feb, but heading to Tulum in Nov and want to get a trial done on my hair.

Jackie recommended someone and said she can set me up with an appt, but I have no idea who this person is or what kind of work she does!

There are three local girls. Nora and Lili work together. Jackie will probably set you up with them. I have pictures of their work I'd be happy to send to you if you PM me your e-mail address (it's just easier for me to forward you her e-mail). There is also a new salon called Fashion Look Salon and Spa. The salon looks really nice and people have written great things about it, but I haven't seen any of their work yet. Here's a little write up Tulum Living: Fashion Look Spa - estetica & spa

I hope to stop by on my next trip, which is also in November.

Lisa,

your wedding is in Feb? Mine is Jan 30th. I have been on the forum for a while as we planned it so far back. but just logged back in to see if there is something I missed.

contact me if you would like to share insight as our weddings are only a month apart. I live in NY NY as well and I have a friend that got married there a year ago. She has been a HUGE help.

    • It's so sweet, Nice idea. Perfect for a cute wedding.😍
    • Hello Kim;) Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!!! My name is Marisol Vera and I am wedding planner; if you are looking for a destination wedding Cancun and Riviera Maya are great options and pretty safe since all the hotels and resorts are taking great care of their guests and visitors. Looking forward to hearing from you very soon;) Have a great day!
    • It depends on how far you can go, Can you go out of US for destination wedding, If yes then their are tons of options Ex. Bali,Thailand is becoming the new hot spot for destination weddings, Other one I would recommend is Rajasthan,India It might be expensive wedding but totally worth it the wedding takes place in palaces. If you don't have that much of budget still their are many options available such as Sicily,Italy - get the authentic wedding ceremony in Italy other one i would recommend is going to Spain their iconic scenery are perfect for a wedding. Thanks🙂

    • I hope you have chosen choosen 3d dress too, it looks the best. When my friend was having a Bachelorette Party and we had to find nice looks for the night, it was like a nightmare. Because 4 girls like 4 different styles and it was hard to find the best one. There are a lot of great articles on this topic you can find on the web https://storyofthebride.com/2020/bachelorette-party-looks-that-will-define-the-night/ . But still we had decided on our brain storm that black and white outfits would have the best looking. It was the only one look that everyone shared. So we had not too many options.
