An Overdue Thank You

So the week before my FI proposed to me, I went on a trip with him to Arizona. It was a work trip for him, but he had a lot of downtime. His boss paid for me to go with him. The flight was paid for, the room, any meals or activities I did on the resort including a couples massage, and also I got to go with my FI and 2 of his coworkers on a team building activity - a hot air balloon ride.

His boss does things like this to show his employees how thankful he. Hes done similar things for other employees but nothing as big as this. That we know of. But my FI is the highest level manager, his right hand man.

So shortly after we got home from the trip, my dad passed away. And things have just been off for me since. Ive gone through these depression spurts where I literally dont do anything. It took me 4 months to get my thank you cards out to people who donated on a charity walk for me.

Well I never sent a thank you of any sort. I should have sent a card at least, but would of preferred to send a gift basket or something. Its now 9 months later and I feel like an ass about it. I have thanked him twice in person though. Once before the trip at one of their work get togethers, and than again at their Christmas party.

I know I shouldnt be using my dads passing an excuse, but it is what it is. Im a natural procrastinator, so throwing my emotions off whack certainly wasnt any benefit to me.

Should I send something now? Even though its way overdue. Im pretty embarassed about the whole thing!

I think its never too late to say thank you! And, you have nothing to be embarrassed about. Life happens and you've had such a huge loss. He will probably really appreciate the fact that you are still thankful for the trip so long after...

i agree with kelly. i think its never too late to say thank you and also i dont think your heart will feel settled until you do what feel is the right thing, so i say go for it!

and i like the gift basket idea, but it doesnt have to be over the top. afterall, you are thanking him for a thank you treat in the first place. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
