Hi all,

I'm getting married in the Riviera Maya (prob Azul Sensatori) and was looking for some recommendations on golf courses for the guys. Has anyone done the research on local area courses, prices, etc? If so, I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks so much!

Jen

I'm hoping to get married there next year as well. I am leaning towards Fairmont Mayakoba and one of the reasons is because of the golf course there. It's georgous. The only thing is, I'm pretty sure that it's more expensive for people who aren't guests at the hotel.

My DH and his buds went to Puerto Aventuras Golf Course. It's a 9 hole course you have to play twice to get in the 18 holes. It was a total of $86 pp and you can play all day for that price. My DH wanted to play another course but they are all sooo much more expensive and he didn't want to ask his buds to pay another $170 on top of the vacation cost.

FYI, my brother stayed at the Fairmont over the summer and played the course. He said it was amazing. If you can afford it...go for it!

Thanks for the replies! The Mayakoba is georgeous, just so expensive ($230 plus $55 for rental clubs). Slightly more affordable are the Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club and the Playacar Golf Club (closer to $190 and including drinks and food on and off the course, plus $35 for clubs). My fiance was thinking of making this his gift to the guys in the wedding party (and letting others decide if they want to play), but we're not sure if this is an okay gift. Thoughts?

Here are a few of the courses that we found when researching and the little write up that we are putting with them in our welcome booklets. Do not quote me on the prices as I am not 100% sure on them.

Iberostar Paraiso Golf Club, 18 hole, par 72

The Iberostar Paraiso Golf Club was designed by one of the Caribbean's most prolific golf course designers, P.B. Dye. It was designated “Best of the Best†by Robb Report in 2006. It is one of the newest courses in the Riviera Maya, opening to the public in 2005.

GREEN FEE (including cart, food, and beverages) 190.00 USD

The Golf Club at Moon Palace, 18 hole, par 72

Jack Nicklaus has put his signature on the Cancun-Riviera Maya golf landscape with The Club at Moon Palace.

GREEN FEE (including cart, food and beverages) 260.00 USD

TWILIGHT (including cart, food and beverages) 165.00 USD

Puerto Aventuras Golf Course, 9 hole, par 36

The PA Golf course is an exciting and challenging course. This beautiful 36 par jungle golf course was designed in 1991 by Thomas Leman and is still one of the best kept secrets in the area. The fairways and greens are covered by a smooth carpet of Bermuda grass and surrounded by Palm trees, bugambilias, tropical ficus and lush foliage.

Green fee (18 holes) $80

Equipment rentals $20

Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
