We leave on Sunday Dec. 13th, 8 more days! I cannot wait to meet Ana in person, I'm sure that will ease my stress :)

Congrats Lin! And many thanks for all the great feedback!

Also thinking of BC Bride & hope she had a beautiful wedding!!

Update from me: We have cancelled our transat wedding pkg and are going with the Coral one direct from the hotel. What meals did you girls choose? Also did you find a lot of additional expenses? (example: $2.50 USD per chair bow, $25.00 US per person to set up reception outside)

As for the dress...most airlines require you to fold garment bag in half and place in overhead compartment. A great tip I got from a friend was..she wrapped dress in plastic (from drycleaner), laid a towel on both sides and rolled it up over a christmas paper tube and fit it in her carry on (that was about the only thing she fit in there) but the dress was perfect, didn't need to be steamed or anything.

Q for Lin: what was the sound system like? Are you able to attach an Ipod or are we better off taking our own speakers?

It's been awhile for me, but I have finally remembered my password! I'll be on more :)

Happy Holidays Fellow Brides!

Amber

Hi girls!

For me the additional expenses just added as we got more guests. We expected 15 people and ended up with 34 so that added up but I never thought it was outrageous, (and I was still on a tight budget!), the only thing extra was boutineirs (sp?), for my Dad and Best man.. forgot those while planning! Ana also gave me a better deal on our bridesmaid bouquets when I was there since I wanted "small" ones.

Food we chose was AMAZING!! EVERYONE loved EVERYTHING, and that's a lot of people!! We got the beef wellington as our main course. Delicious and big portion. The appetizer was a mixed green salad with vinagarette dressing and feta cheese in a tortilla bowl. Lime sorbet to cleanse your palete and creme brule for desert. All great!

The sound system was great for us. We brought a loaded up ipod and it worked perfectly. The sound was clear and could even be heard clearly into the foyer area where we had our first dance. I LOVED having the private room for our reception. Perfect for speeches/toasts. Everyone could be seated and we got away from all the people (A LOT!), watching us on the beach. It felt very exclusive and everyone loved the intimacy, the room was stunning.

Good luck and happy planning! smile29.gif

We just had our wedding at the Ocean Turquesa on December 9th and we had the Shooting Star package - it was amazing and Ana, the wedding coordinator was absolutely wonderful. Everything went better than expected and the weather was even perfect! We had the Surf and Turf - it was excellent, and the decorations and flowers were beautiful. Ana goes beyond to give you what you want.

The only problem about that resort is the communication. I have stayed at other resorts in the Mayan but this one was frustrating in the sense of trying to get answers and money exchanged - with mostly the front desk staff. When our guests and relatives checked in, after going through the room requests with Ana to make sure there were no problems - they totally messed up on a couple of requests and told our guests that there were no specifics given to them about room requests etc before hand. So basically they were saying that Ana didn't do her job - which was wrong - she was the only one I felt cared about us. Expecially cuz we brought 21 people to their establishment you would think they would be helpful when it came to questions etc...but it was like pulling teeth sometimes. Otherwise the resort is beautiful, food was excellent and our Air Transat Rep Hugo was very helpful as well.

hey cathy, thank you so much for the review...it's so reassuring to hear updates on how everyone's weddings have gone. and I haven't nothing but brilliant reviews about Ana too so in a way, I am not too worried about everything else as it's good enough to know there's someone there who's going to try and make everything perfect.

and good to know in advance about the front desk! I'll just warn people to fight for what they think they should have and to expect a few problems - if you're warned it doesn't normally feel so bad!

are you going to put some of your pics up and share??!! I'm a sucker for wedding photos!!

really glad you had an amazing wedding smile03.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
