Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi Kaycee!!! Welcome back and congratulations to you and your DH :) Thank you as well for taking the time to post here, and it is good to hear that everything went well!

Did you get a particular wedding package or 'free' wedding?

How was the beach there? Was there really alot of seaweed?

Also, did you bring your own photographer or used the resort's?

Hmm I wondered about the ala carte restaurants situation, thank you for mentioning that... did you have to wait long to get your tables?

Lol sorry to ask so many questions! I'm sure I'll think of more...

Thanks again, any info will help, and if you can share some pics that would be great as well!

Cherie- thank you, those are the flowers I will use at our wedding,

Kaycee- Ack! I'm so excited you're back and everything went great!!! I second bcbride's questions and comments! What did you do for your reception? How did your hair turn out? Which ceremony setup did you do? Did they have a steamer for your dress? I'm sure I'll have more, but those all all the ones I can think of off the top of my head :)

As an aside- my flower pics disapeared (they worked all day yesterday), anyone know if I posted them wrong? They're still in my photobucket acct.

Hi Everyone,

There are lots of questions to answer so I'm just going to dive right in.

We got the Coral package $1500 for 20 peps. Because we brought our own officiate and did a symbolic ceremony Ana took $200 off the total. Then b/c we wanted the dinner reception to be outside by the pool all closed off to us, we paid $13.50 per person to have it there. She had said the normal price for that was $27 so she gave us half off. And due to the wind we were moved in under the hut instead of right next to the pool- it still worked nicely. The food was really good that night too. The beach is really beautiful but when the wind is blowing its the windiest place to be at the entire resort and the seaweed is not bad at all- they are always picking it up. Ana told me in the beginning that it would cost $400 extra to bring my own photographer so I didn't even look at that option. Which now that I know I might do different. We paid $770 for the photographer and got him as long as we wanted-nice. However, he really only took one or two shots of each pict. so if that one pic didn't turn out that was all we had. Not sure if he was doing this to get us out of the wind faster or if that's just the way he does it? He was really nice- Daniel. The photo books they give you are really cool but we had to pick 60 pictures that we wanted with our package and it was hard to decide when looking at all the pics- they are just on paper and really small. We were running late for dinner so we picked the 60 and then I thought we would come back and look at the ones on the computer. But the girls there were already printing out the 60 and putting them in the books-so that's just what I got. I sort of wish we would have tried to get all the pics. on the cd-that would have seemed like getting more of what we paid for. A plus is they are ready to go and take home the next day. My hair was so so, again just didn't really look like me- but everyone else seemed to like it. I think I'm really picky so it's hard to please me-ha. The lady that did my hair didn't speak very good english at all and they don't have hot curlers so she had to do it with a curling iron- took awhile. I didn't want to pay $25 per person for a rehearsal dinner so Ana got me a reservation for all of us at the buffet for free- but I thought we would have one big table set off out of the way- nope. We were in three circular tables right in the entry to get all the food. So we just adapted and gave all our gifts at the reception. I did get Ana to get us reservations one night- had to beg and plead- and we didn't get to go till 9:00 but we were all together at the Japanese. Other wise you have to stand in line the day of at 3:00 to get reservations. We did this a few times just switched people so no one had to do it more than once. The do have irons and boards in all the rooms- not sure about a steamer I did not need one- check with Ana. Got to go skiing now but I will come back later and keep going. Hope this is helpful for you all!

Kaycee, that is sooooo helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience! I was wondering if you were able to get all the pictures on CD? Or is it just the 60 pictures you picked to get developed that go on the CD?

ok I'm back!

We did go on excursions. We went to Tullum which was just as beautiful as all the pics look. But it is a long ride so I don't think I would do it again. The next day we had everyone on a catamaran for a snorkel tour- it was awesome we had the entire boat to ourselves and even grama Barb had a good time just relaxing on the boat. Then we went fishing- would have been good, but the waves were huge and a few people got sick. You can book all the tours right there in the lobby, and don't forget your in Mexico- Barter Barter Barter. There is nightly entertainment, just get an activities sheet from the lobby- it tells you what's going on everyday. One night we went to the cirque du soleil show it was really good. You only get 60 pics on the cd. The flowers were nice- bring pics to show Ana what you want. I had tikki torches with white tulle connecting them to form the aisle- simple but elegant. Sorry can't get any pics to upload?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this and am considering Ocean Turquesa for our destination wedding. Sounds like a great resort and very reasonably priced!

Kaycee - Congrats on your wedding! I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.

Can someone email me the wedding package? I would really appreciate it. My email address is [email protected].

Also, if you stay at one resort, can you migrate to the other resorts in the H10 chains? If I am right, the Ocean Turquesa, Ocean Coral and Ocean Maya are joined? What was the demographic like? I read that it's not much of a party place for young singles, and entertainment is not so great. It may have changed. Any comments Kaycee?

Looking forward to hearing more about this resort!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
