Hi Mporras,

We did a sand ceremony, and it worked nicely for the most part. I purchased my own glass pouring vases and glass container and brought them with me. One of the pouring vases broke in my luggage, but luckily OCT had some I could borrow. Here are 2 photos for reference. The container we poured into I bought at Michael's, then had it engraved with our monogram and wedding date at Things Remembered. We brought our own colored and white sand from Michael's (though you could definitely pick up the white sand from the beach at the hotel, it would work just as well). The engraving is hard to see on the photo, but you get the idea:

Hi IBaker,

Thanks for the pics of your sand ceremony!

Was there an extra charge for having the sand ceromony?

I really want to have one at my wedding, but am not sure how to coordinate this.  Did you have any trouble bringing the sand vases home with you?

I just wanted to introduce myself to this thread. I booked my wedding at this resort for January 23, 2014 at 3PM. So far everything has been going good with planning. I was wondering if anyone is getting married around this time too. I was hoping just to do the wish(free) package and get all the upgrades I want and not have it cost a lot but more of our family and friends are coming then we expected so we are upgrading to the sunset package. I was wondering what time is everyone's ceremony and reception. I don't want it to be too long in between because I don't know what my guests would do in between then but I also don't want like an early bird supper and the party is over with by 8.

We did a sand ceremony and it was a nice added touch to our wedding. During the meeting with the coordinator they actually asked us if we were doing a sand ceremony, we gave her our picture frame and vases and colored sand and they took care of the rest. They even had a little reading prepared to go along with it. It didn't cost any extra to add it in.

Also I'm looking at my options on bouquets and my colors are dark purple and bright blue like seen on the ribbons around the chairs. Can we change the color of a rose bouquet to purples? Or is is only pink?

As far as the flowers go, when you have your meeting there are many more options. They will try to accomodate whatever you want. They dyed flowers for me to match the colors, lillies for my bridesmaids and orchids for my bouquet. I wanted and they have these other flowers that are a really deep purple color, can't remember the name of them but they are really pretty. I actually had my mom and dad's corsage and boutonniere made with that particular flower because they wore purple. Here is a picture of my bouquet with white roses and dyed blue orchids.

My fiance and I have decided to reserve OCT for Friday, 23 May 2014!  So excited.  Claudia is asking me to "plate" my credit card though for the reservation.  I assume she means make an imprint.  Did other brides have to do this and if so, how'd you do it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
