Hi Karaline, I know Andrea must be busy cuz she has been avoiding a reply to the email I sent her last week with questions. Grrrrrr - SO FRUSTERATING!!

I am getting married at the gazebo next door at the Jalisco and then having the dinner and reception there as well. We hired 2 bartenders for the night. Did you get any info on cakes? That's what I was looking for... as well as renting stuff for the recepton (candle holders, etc).

What questions were you inquiring about?

Hey Melissa!

Did you hire the bartenders from RIU? What is your guest count?

We haven't gotten cake info- that is one of the questions that wasn't answered.

I asked questions about;

1) Where on the beach will the ceremony be held? Are there pictures yet of Riu Vallarta weddings/receptions yet?

2) Attached is a photo I found online; is this how the tables will be set up for the reception?

3) Is there an option of having the reception set up on the beach?

4) Do you have pictures of centerpieces?

5) When do we have our rehearsal?

6) Attahced is a picture of a Riu cake I found online. Do you have pictures and prices?

She only answered the one about the reception set-up picture I attached. sad.gif Hopefully she will answer more, or I will just have to e-mail Tina instead.

Good luck- let me know what happens!

Hi mgreen and karalane-

I have actually had a good experience with Andrea. I do know that sometimes her messages don't come through as quickly if she has pictures attached. Those messages sometimes bounce back to her so she will send them to an alternate e-mail address that I sent her. I found this out because I called her directly after I had not heard back from her, but she has always been very responsive to my questions, although sometimes it may take her a couple of days.

Regarding their cakes, I found them to be very basic. She sent me some pics of cakes that they have done in the past and if you e-mail me at [email protected] I will try to send them to you. Anyway, they were more basic than my FH and I were looking for, so Andrea suggested Pie In The Sky Bakery in Puerto Vallarta. You should send Andrea pics of the type of cake you want and ask if that is something they can do.

The decorations for the reception are VERY basic...just white linens and napkins from what I understand. You are allowed to bring in your own if you like. I'm not sure what, if any, centerpieces are provided. I think there is an option to have the reception on the beach, at one of the restaurants (Flamingo or the Asian restaurant) or in their ballroom, but the ballroom won't be all-inclusive.

We are planning a welcome beach party on the Friday before the wedding and our rehearsal will be right before that.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi- Andrea did get back to us :) It has been hard because when we initially booked we were with a different coordinator. Oh well! We want to have the reception on the Beach- however Andrea advised agaisnt it because it could rain.

I think we will bring in our own decorations for the reception....not sure what yet.

As for the Bar Mezcal set up; do they have a dance area?

It is coming up so soon- I have to finalize this stuff.

Oh - are you girls using the Spa there for hair?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
