  1. Hey there Caletas bridetobe- I am getting married at RIU Vallarta later this month and so far haven't seen anyone's pics from there; I've only seen pics from Jalisco. How was your stay? Do you have any pics to share? I'm very nervous about the wedding, as I haven't been able to see anything in person. I had been working with Andrea for months and then she sent me an e-mail and informed me that she was leaving. I thought I was going to faint! We will have over 60 guests and I'm just curious to find out how everything went for you durnig yuor stay. Thanks, chicago2PV
  2. Hi- I'm getting married in November and I don't particularly care for RIU's standard arch either. Here is a site that rents things like chairs, tables, bars, beach beds, etc. Untitled-1 scroll down and click "toldo bamboo". Hope this helps!
  3. Hi mgreen and karalane- I have actually had a good experience with Andrea. I do know that sometimes her messages don't come through as quickly if she has pictures attached. Those messages sometimes bounce back to her so she will send them to an alternate e-mail address that I sent her. I found this out because I called her directly after I had not heard back from her, but she has always been very responsive to my questions, although sometimes it may take her a couple of days. Regarding their cakes, I found them to be very basic. She sent me some pics of cakes that they have done in the past and if you e-mail me at [email protected] I will try to send them to you. Anyway, they were more basic than my FH and I were looking for, so Andrea suggested Pie In The Sky Bakery in Puerto Vallarta. You should send Andrea pics of the type of cake you want and ask if that is something they can do. The decorations for the reception are VERY basic...just white linens and napkins from what I understand. You are allowed to bring in your own if you like. I'm not sure what, if any, centerpieces are provided. I think there is an option to have the reception on the beach, at one of the restaurants (Flamingo or the Asian restaurant) or in their ballroom, but the ballroom won't be all-inclusive. We are planning a welcome beach party on the Friday before the wedding and our rehearsal will be right before that. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
  4. Thanks for the well wishes. We are doing our honeymoon at RIU Palace Los Cabos. Can you suggest any fun things to do/see?
  5. Hi, did you get my reply to your message in your personal e-mail? I havnen't logged onto this site in weeks, so please pardon the delay.
  6. We haven't decided on which package to use for the photographer. Probably the same one - 5 hours unlimited. NO idea on how we are going to decorate yet. Do you have any ideas to share? I'm looking around for ideas now. Are you putting together a story board (of sorts) to give Andrea so she can see exactly what you want and how you want things? I am in the process of gathering that information now.
  7. We are using Bar Bahia as well for the cocktail hour(s). I think one of our friends will DJ, or we will just hook up some mixes on the iPod. Either way, it will be a par-tay! We do plan on using Aldo Tovar. He does have nice work.

Please let me know if you know of any vendors in that area. Thanks!
  9. Hi, thanks for the warm welcome! I have been to a couple of RIUs but not RIU Vallarta nor Jalisco. Overall, I really do like the hotels. We are actually honeymooning at RIU Palace in Cabo for 7 days because we will have been in PV for 6 days. Anyway, Andrea is our coordinator and she seems very nice and acommodating. Right now we are going with the Caprice package, but we may downgrade to a less expensive package and get rid of things we don't need and just add extras of other things that we want/need. Does that make sense? The way it is set up, we don't pay for it until we get there and make a final decision on the package we want. Are you doing a reception after the ceremony? Indoors or outdoors?
  10. Hi everyone- I'm a newbie so I don't know how to use all of the icons and functions yet so please bear with me. Anyway, I'm getting married at RIU Vallarta in November and was wondering if anyone had been there and what their thoughts are on the place. Also, does anyone have a list of fun things to do in the area? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Hi everyone- I recently heard about this site from someone on another forum. Glad to see that there is destination-specific advice and information here! I'm getting married in November in the beautiful Puerto Vallarta, at RIU Vallarta in November. Has anyone been? I have so many questions!
