Confused and getting overwhelmed!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm heading out to Paradisus and other resorts for a site visit next week and I feel like there is still a lot to research. The FI and I finally narrowed the list down to 6 potential resorts. We're trying to book appointments but still haven't heard back from some of them. In the meantime, I've started researching photographers (locals and from the states), transportation accomodations, random passport stuff (for my guests), thinking abt STD photos (wanted to have the beach in the background) etc etc and I'm getting stressed and really overwhelmed. I'm wondering if all this would be easier if I work with a separate wedding coordinator? That way we can probably split up some of the leg work and it would be a nice point of contact for my guests too? And can anyone recommend someone?

I really would appreciate any thoughts or advice!

Hi there!

Take a deep breath....good.

Have fun on your site visits. Take it all in, take lots of pics, look at photos from previous weddings and try to imagine your wedding there and all of your guests. Do you have an idea on a date? If you have time, focus on nailing down the resort first.

After you decide on a resort, then contact some TA's to get pricing for your guests.

Usually the resort you choose has their own wedding coordinators, so you really don't need an independent one. Your TA should be able to help your guests arrange travel and also be a point of contact. It is also helpful to choose a TA who has worked with your location and coordinators before, so they can step in to speak on your behalf if necessary.

Try not to stress and enjoy this time.

Enjoy the Paradisus. I loved that resort and their weddings!

Do you already have your date set? If not, a longer engagement can do wonders for helping you to get organized. I went through EXACTLY what you are talking about, to the point of breaking out in hives for a month straight from stress. We hadn't announced our date yet, and the minute we changed and decided on a longer engagement it was SUCH a relief. I had a hard time getting in touch with people, but with more time I was able to find a better group of people to work with who are responsive.

A coordinator can help a lot if you are able to hand off projects and don't like working on all of the little details. We decided not to use one to save money and because we wanted to have the say in who all of our vendors would be.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
