KatieK, we're using Michelle De La Torre. Still trying to figure out music-- I am using WeddingWire to look for ceremony musicians and a DJ but haven't booked anyone yet. I've totally been dragging my feet on that.

As far as where we're getting married, we booked a private estate that includes two houses in Islamorada.

jeffica - i just recently had my wedding on oct 25th in clearwater which is a couple hours north of sanibel. our ceremony was at 5:30pm so that we can take pics with the sunset. the weather was gorgeous all day saturday, sunny, not humid, and warm, around 70's. it was really breezy by the beach which made it cooler. we were cold while picture taking on the beach. but guests were definitely enjoying the sunny day louging by the hotel pool or on the beach. end of oct early nov is great weather. it was still warm when we got back from our honeymoon on nov 3rd as well. hope that helps. oh and it rained all day thurs and friday before the wedding. a strom system came in but left just in time. we woke up saturday morning to beautiful blue skies! it was perfect!

I'm in the same boat ((minus my friends and my family-they were all on board- my future in-laws had the problem)) lost our deposit at Paradisus PC and everything. (sigh)

Anyway, any recommendations you girls have for venues / destinations for SW Florida please post! I'm starting from square one again and have never been to the area. We are trying to keep the costs at $30k and expecting around 100 guests.. Long shot, I know..... (sigh again)

Thanks girls

My fiancé and I are getting married in Islamorada 6/9/12... We make it down to Islamorada about once a month and have a small place there on the ocean. We've decided on the Islander for our wedding and so far the staff has been GREAT!

I read in this thread about Holiday Isle (sorry but that place was a dump!) it just recently changed names to Postcard Inn and I guess they are trying to redecorate the room and grounds, the pools used to be extremely over crowded due to allowing anyone and everyone to use them but I've been told they recently stopped allowing that after changing names. Place looks great online but trust me I wouldn't even stay there so for sure not get married there.

Maybe if it is completely overhauled by your wedding day I guess but I was not about to take that chance.

I would recommend the Islander or Chica lodge in Islamorada or if your budget can afford it Hawks Cay in Duck Key is absolutely stunning!!

Hope this helps someone, any questions let me know!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
