Hi, My FH and I just came back from a weekend road trip to scout florida destination wedding locations. Sanibel is beautiful. We flew into Tampa, drove through Longboat and Lido Keys (near Sarasota), then to Sanibel, Captiva, Naples & Marco Island before jetting across the state to Miami and the Keys. I have tons of pictures of properties and thoughts about every place we stayed, if you are interested. Just don't do it in a weekend ~ we were so sad to leave but know that we'll be going back soon.

Islamorada Bride, where in Islamorada? When? how big is your wedding? Sharibare - we like South Seas, Sundial, and Sanibel Resort (but are leaning towards the keys b/c of proximity to Miami airport) What do you think of those places?

thanks ladies. we're thinking Oct 17/18 so that's this coming weekend but next year. Can you report on the weather next weekend in your respective areas? We were at a wedding last sunday (oct 12) in Chicago and we were melting MELTING during their 2 pm outdoor ceremony. it was 87 degrees! We want to have an outdoor beach ceremony at dusk so I'm not too worried about heat as much as I am rain. We do want our guests to enjoy pool and water activities so I'd almost rather hot than risk a cool front in Nov. ok weather brides. report away!

Hi, After our planned Destination Wedding in Punta Cana was completely vetoed by our friends and family, we've settled on Florida - either Key Largo/Islamorada or Sanibel/Captiva. My question is - how bad (hot, rainy) is mid to late June? How bad (cool, rainy) is mid October to mid November? I'm overthinking, i know... thanks Brides!

hey Islamorada, Where (what resort)/when are you getting married? We're struggling btween June and Oct/Nov 09 and scared of rain!!

this is so helpful. my fiance and I were engaged in Vieques and immediately thought of PR for our destination wedding. we don't want to be married in Old San Juan, or in "new" San Juan - we want a resort feeling and a beach wedding (so no El Conquistador). wedding will be in june 2009, so maybe the W will be open by then. does anyone know how expensive the xfer flight is to Vieques, and how often it flies? we took the ferry from Fajardo when we were there in March. otherwise, we're considering Punta Cana btw, a celebrity couple stole my guy's engagement plan & i read about it in Destination Weddings mag!
