Dreams Huatulco are there anymore brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies!

I'm just wondering if anybody has seen/been to or heard anything about las brisas huatulco? We were planning to get married at Dreams, but my fiances parents go every year to Las Brisas and are very insistant that we go there instead.

Their arguments are that:

1. Las brisas is much more lush.. it is like a botanical garden everywhere, with lots of greenery, beautiful flowers etc. . and is still immaculately clean.

2. There is more to do at las brisas.. at dreams, you have a hotel on a beach.. period.. at las brisas there are tennis courts, basketball, sports.. lots of places to walk/run.. etc.

3. They say that the beaches are better, there is a snorkel beach, and then two others, and that at dreams, you often can't swim because of the rough water.

4. They say there is no shade at dreams.. and since your options are be in your room, go to town, or be at the pool/beach, it might be a rough week for this reason.

Overall, she said that she thinks our guests will have a better time at Las Brisas.. and now I'm not sure what to think.. is there anybody who has seen both or heard anything different? I would love some more info!

thanks!!

Hey Jawedding!

I kind of was told the opposite of la brisas! I think that is definitely more lush for sure but the two hotels are completely dif. Dreams is more modern and simple and brisas is more the mexican style and its older. Its also very large with lots of stairs (which is why we didn't choose it, we wanted it to be easy to find everyone and also easy for our grandparents to get around). The restaurant selection is also smaller there, i think they only have 2 or 3 restaurants that are a la carte. And the beach at the dreams resort is supposed to be the best beach and has the best snorkeling around the rocks. So?! Im not sure what to tell you. We were looking at la brisas cause our travel agent recommended it, and it was cheaper, but dreams is definitely more 'us' and more our guests. And there will be a multiplex for sports at the dreams, its just not built yet!

I would go onto the tripadivsor forum for huatulco, you can hear alot of peoples opinions on there. I would definitely say Dreams is the best hotel in huatulco for the money you pay, at least thats what we have gathered by all the reviews we have read.

maybe im a little bias though?! haha.. but really, I understand where your coming from cause we laid out the pros and cons for las brisas, dreams and the barcelo.

thanks so much for that input!! It is SO hard not having been there, and so nice to be able to talk to other people who have looked into all of them! I definatelythink dreams will be... classier... but i don't know.. she keeps saying "i think your guests will enjoy las brisas much more".. so .. i don't know.. thank you though! And congrats!

There is another bride, jenluvsmike, who got married there on the 19th. I am sure she will be putting up a review on here soon, which might help you out a bit more, hearing her actual experience. We have the same travel agent and my TA had told me that Jen said her wedding was even better than she dreamed. I dont think you can go wrong with either resort personally, you guys will have fun no matter where you are!

Jawedding - I agree in that you will fun at either resort. I was in Huatulco last weekend with my fiance and we loved it! We are getting married at the Dreams in April and really did not consider any other resort. Mainly because our travel agent highly recommended the Dreams properties. She has had many brides get married at the Dreams properties and they have all been fabulous!

We loved the Dreams properties. Everything is brand new except for the concrete structure. They are continuing to plant trees and flowers so it still looks a little bare. That was one of my concerns when I saw some of the pictures. However, after being there, I am no longer worried. There are 7 restaurants at the Dreams hotel, which is nice as it offers some variety. There is a tennis court, that is not yet open due to the renovations. The fitness center is also brand new and is scheduled to open, along with the tennis court, in the middle of February.

The beach at the Dreams is, in my opinion, the best beach along the Tangolunda Bay. It has so much more character than the beach at the Barcelo, or the Quinta Real. The Dreams beach is next to rocks and is beautiful. There was barely anyone at the beach at the Quinta Real. The chairs at the Barcelo beach are roped off, which I didn't quite understand. There is a ton of shade at the Dreams, however you need to go "stake out" a chair early in the morning. They appeared to go fast. It was rather crowded when we were there.

We did not see Las Brisas as you cannot get to it from the beach at Dreams. You can see the hotel across the bay, but I did not get a close look at it. So, I really can't comment on the beach or anything at the Brisas.

I think one of the most important things to consider is how responsive they are to you as a bride and the questions you have. Rocio at Dreams has been fabulous! She is great at returning e-mails. If Las Brisas is not responsive, that will only add to your headaches. Definitely keep that in mind. If you have a date in mind, it might be to your benefit to check with both hotels to see if they have availability.

Hope this helps!

THEY DOUBLE BOOKED MY DATE!!!

Is the other Bride who booked March 3rd, 2009 in herehuh.gifhuh.gif?

Apparently you are getting married on the Beach and I at the Gazebo. But at some point we are both going to be kicked out of our areas and sent to the Disco!!!

No offence of course -- but I'm not okay with this. We are EACH supposed to be the ONLY bride of the night you know. I just asked Rocio about options, but I just don't know what she's going to come back with.

I have my date printed on a bunch of items already, and I'm sure you do to.

Ohh I hope you're in here -- we need to talk!

oh no sad.gif I dont think you are technically 'double booked' b/c your having your ceremony and receptions in dif places (unless your both on the terrace or beach and that cant be right?!). But I know alot of dreams resorts have two weddings a day, I was at one in punta cana wher eit was the same thing and we were at the disco with another wedding. They guarantee you will be the only bride getting married at your ceremony/reception location of choice, but they dont guarantee you will be teh only bride that day/night.

Could you move your date? or were you really wanting the 3rd? I dont remember another bride saying the same date as you, but hopefully she gest on here soon!

Yeah and thats the thing -- I don't care that we're in different areas, that's fine, but I just dont want to be at the disco dancing alongside another Bride. I mean talk about 'Stealing Your Thunder' . Anyway I haven't heard back from Rocio yet so we'll see, perhaps the other girl doesn't mind changing *fingers crossed*.

But does anyone know if the convention center is done there yet? It shows in the blue prints on the site that it has 4 rooms that can be sectioned off or combined --- I asked if our dinner & reception could be in there (the Mitla & Monte Albán rooms) so that way we don't have to move our party. But I guess this is only an option if constuction on it is done

Thanx ladies

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
