Dreams Huatulco are there anymore brides?

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

I hope everyone is doing well. I am needing a little advice/help. My fiancee and I want to have our rehersal dinner off site. Has anyone been down there and knows any local restaurants that could fit a wedding party of 12?

Also, I am not sure how this photographer thing works. Can anyone clarify this for me? Are we given a list of names when we get there and then we just choose one? We are not interested in finding one out here in Calgary and then flying them down because the hidden costs and small print of this wedding are starting to drive me insane (sorry, just needed to vent). Can anybody help me make sense of this photographer thing?

Robs4848: I think your on your own with the photographer thing just like you would be if you got married at home. You would have rights to the resort photographer, if thats the route you wanted to go though. I dont think there is a way to see his/hers work beforehand though which kinda makes me nervous. I did talk to a guy down there that I know another bride is using in feb, I pm'd her for info and she sent it to me.

His name is Fabian Lasala, he is in the huatulco area and very reasonable. Check out his websites and you can make up your mind from there! We still keep going back and forth b/w him and bringing a guy from canada with us. I love his price but Im just nervous of the quality of the prints. If you want more info on him let me know.

Robs4848 - I have also been contacted by Fabian but was confused as it appears that he is the "official" hotel photographer. However, after reading the post above, he may not be. His prices do appear to be reasonable. I have not yet talked to him, but I plan to.

I am not much help on the restaurants since I haven't been there yet....

One question I have - has anyone had any contacts with any florists? Thanks!

really? I had no idea that he might be the hotel photographer b/c I talked to him before they got a wedding coordinator. But now that you mention it, he did contact me after having talked to Anel at dreams. hmmm. huh.gif

I just received some pictures of the gazebo area and a couple of the beach that I will try attaching. The gazebo looks very pretty and not a 'typical gazebo'. I think its too small for my wedding though sad.gif

Cdnvb9-Can you send the pictures to me as well? my email is robs4848@hotmail.com. I would really appreciate it!

So I contacted the photographer, Fabian (I think that's his name?) and he was totally reasonable and free on our date and I was ok with his portfolio. I am just waiting for Anel (or whoever at the resort) to get back to me on whether he is the official hotel photographer, and if not, what is the cost to having him onsite for the day. The package we chose also includes some photography, so I am not sure how the whole thing works.

I know that once we get down there everything will be fine, but we are trying to keep our guests somewhat informed and not having any information is becoming frustrating!! augh!

Hello Ladies!

So Fabian is the official hotel photographer. So that is all under control, thank goodness. I checked out the pics on trip advisor as well as some sent to me from the resort and we originally chose the gazebo, but our party is too large now, and we also decided that the beach is more our style. So that is another decision made!

We are now just getting last minute stuff together. We want to do welcome bags but we are unsure what to put in them and time is seriously running out. Any ideas?

Also, has anyone sent out an email or travel itinerary to their guests? We are getting one together and I just want to make sure I am not missing any details. So far we have information about the restaurants, climate, dress code, passport, wedding info, possible tours/day activites. Am I missing anything?

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello!

I found this thread while searching online for information on my upcoming wedding. I am getting married March 2, 2009 (we fly out Feb 27), at the Dreams Resort in Huatulco, Mexico. I have so many questions and am worried about running out of time.

We have our trip booked through my fiance's cousin, and I feel that I can identify with a lot of the feedback here - I haven't had direct communication with the resort, however once my TA got information to me, I found that things needed to be done immediately - ie. we only had about a week or two in July to get our deposits in, after not hearing from the resort for nearly 2 months. And we needed to have the $500 deposit for the actual wedding in the same day I got my contract, with a lot of TBD on it - I still have yet to confirm many details. I find it is taking a long time to get information / hear back from the resort, and I still don't know about flowers, music, time frame etc., however I am supposed to have more info later this week.

We are getting married on the beach, and picked a time of 5 pm - I was told this would give a nice amount of time for daytime and sunset pictures, as the sun sets around 6:10 pm this time of year. We have about 35 ppl, and for the reception have it set for the terrace by the pool, which is right off the beach. I am waiting to hear about setup there, for music etc., is this a nice location for the reception?

Another question I have is about the spa - I want to set up mani/peds, has anyone used the spa services here? My TA has contacted the resort to have it set up ahead of time, but this is something I am still waiting for an answer on.

My fiance was also wondering about deep sea fishing - does anyone know an approx cost, and is this something you book thru the resort / in advance, or is it just done once you get there?

I look forward to hearing from you!

Ang

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
