Often, the surgeon can tell what type of tumor it is by how it looks and how it comes out (one big shell vs. little pieces that have grown into the nerve tissue). We have several brain tumor patients who come back for years for follow up, and never have a single problem again.
    Thank you for your thoughts...

She has (had) 5 total brain tumors and 1 spinal tumor, they are all benign tumors because she has Neurofibromatosis (NF2) which is a disease where her body grows tumors all over her nervous system. Thankfully she only has the 6 and not more!

The tumor they removed was walnut sized but the problem wasn't the tumor it was the cyst that was attached to it that was pushing on her brain, it was 3xs the size of the actual tumor. It was all one piece thankfully and it fell off her nerve endings with no problems. The tumor that they removed specifically was called an Acoustic Neuroma. With her disease the tumors grow incredibly slow so they don't intend to operate again....at least we hope not!

That's great news. With the way it dissected from the brain tissue, she should heal much more quickly. We don't see a ton of NF2, but we tend to do mostly spine stuff. Here's hoping for a quick recovery!
