I know!!! I saw that! And that AMAZED me too ... the only thing I can think of is that maybe my vendors won't import them - they have to be imported (when they are out of season) because, if they can sell them, they will - callas are worth A LOT more than roses. :)

I didn't have a say in my bouquet, i just sent pics of flowers i wanted. I wanted ranaculus or peonies but didn't get them... I did love my flowers though. I think there were orange roses, irish bells and some other white flowers.
Your bouquet looks like circus or confetti roses, irish bells and I THINK (but wouldn't swear on it) that's lisianthius. :)

PV brides, please share your bouquets with me :)

TIA
I just had a thought yesterday when I was out for a ceremony because I saw them growing up against a house ... what about white antherium? They have a similar sleek feel of callas... I wouldn't know why they wouldn't be available if I just saw them out growing yesterday. Anyway, Just a thought!

Does anyone know where we can buy flowers in bulk in PV? Any local markets?

We are doing all of the flowers for our reception. Our WC said it was fine, so I am taking our aqua colored blumeboxes and I wanted to put orange callas with white roses and some with white callas and orange roses.

If you get a chance to look at any of the RIU Jalisco threads, there is a pic (I think) on Mel's posts (Raeka) - I am doing all of my bouquets and arrangements the same as Mel's except in white and orange.

I didn't even like Callas until I saw her bouquet - after that I was hooked!

All of our flowers are brought-in from GDL, so w don't have a local flower market, per se. I do know that Freesia will sell you flowers in a bunch a lot cheaper than the other florists in town, but it's still WAAAAHYYY more $$ than if you ordered from a vendor in GDL. The problem with the vendors in GDL is that you have to babysit them CONSTANTLY to make sure they are on top of things and getting your order to them. And you have to pay them in a bank here in town and you have to go to the bus station to pick the flowers up. What I'm saying is it's a rigamaro - one that's not so bad when your WC does it but I honestly don't think you want that stress right before your wedding - But if you're a good stress handler, you might try Freesia. They only speak Spanish but I think I have the phone # somewhere, if you would like to give it a go :).

I order from 3 different vendors in GDL, when I'm doing an event, and calla lillies went "out of season" the beginning of May (because of the climate change, this was a bad year for callas) - my May bride wanted calla's too, but, as I couldn't get any, she asked for Stargazers and lillies instead. IF they can get your callas, I'm willing to bet they are being IMPORTED which would make them SUPER expensive (like with orchids and tulips which are always imported).

What SHOULD be available now:

Roses (ALWAYS available - and not uber expensive)
Alstromeria
Bethlehem Star
Calla Lillies
Cartemom
Casablanca
Cymbidium and dendrobium orchids (they are $$, eh!)
Delphenium
Gerber Daisies
Ginger
Gladiola
Heliconia
Iris
Irish Bells
Lily
Lisianthus
Mums
Tuberose
Stargazer
Tulips (these are $$ too)

Now knowing what sort of wedding you're having, my recommendations are:

Roses with Bethlehem Star and/or Dendrobium orchids
Roses with Lisianthius
Dendrobium orchids with Lisianthius
Roses and lillies
Bethlehem Star, Tuberoses and Lisianthius

Or you could try an all Casablanca bouquet. Huge flowers, smell great - but don't work so well with other flowers. Or maybe Casablancas with Bethlehem Star.

Hope that helped!
Thank you!!! I'm going to try and find pics of bouquets with these flowers and send them to my WC.

That may be nice. My MOH's are going to carry a single green antherium. I guess I really wanted lillies b/c my grandmother carried them on her wedding day and I love the name Lily and thought if I ever had a girl I'd have a story to tell her.

Hmmm. I have family driving in from GDL the Wednesday prior to the wedding ( I get married on Friday). But I think they would die by then.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
