Occidental Grand Xcaret Wedding Review

found this review on tripadvisor, yipee another good one!!!

Just returned from our wedding vacation @ Xcaret and had an amazing time! We arrived on a Monday and were married Friday, with most of our 42 guests arriving Wednesday. Everyone was very happy with the resort. My mother & stepdad have been to the Mayan Riviera 6 times before this trip & both agree this was the best resort they have stayed at.

Our wedding was truly incredible! The wedding location is breathtaking & we then had a private reception in the beach club area. Edith the wedding coordinator was outstanding. I tried asking her questions the months leading up to the wedding, but I then realized they really plan all the details the week or so before. She had every detail perfect, from the flowers to the ceremony music. Just remember, she deals with 5-7 weddings a week during a busy period, so if she does not seem responsive to emails in the early planning stages, don't worry! She wraps everything up in just a couple of days! I also highly recommend Cancun Studios, their onsight photographer was awesome!

A couple of negatives that were very minor overall & maybe these tips will help you. Food was average at best, kind of what we expected being it was all inclusive. Reservation restaurants were slightly better, but as mentioned before it was very difficult to get reservations & the restaurants were never full. All we ever had to do was tip the maitre d though & you got a table right away, no reservation. Last negative, time share pushers. We did not get hassled as they knew we were there for our wedding, but a couple of friends got suckered in, so just say No!

Overall, our entire group had a great experience at this resort! Also, all the water at this resort is filtered except the water in the rooms bathrooms, so we were fine drinking water in the resturants & drank many frozen drinks! Any stomach ailments guest may pick up I think are probably due to sauces or salad dressings that may be left out a considerable amount of time, so just be selective in what you choose!

Remember, a vacation is often what you make of it. If you're looking for a problem, you can usually find it. Just relax & enjoy!

Thank you for the review! That is really helpful! We are thinking about the Occidental now since it's a little cheaper than some of the hotels we considered in Cancun.

I searched through the photos on TripAdvisor but couldn't find any photos of a wedding or wedding sites. I really wish I could find some!

I did a site visit in november and was very pleased with the resort. When we first looked into it knowing it had 700+ rooms, and was a little hestitant on that as well as the man-made beach, butf after seeing and walking around it, it din't bother me soo much. I am exicted to hear more.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
